I want to see a beautiful, intelligent, and thoroughly confidant woman for a romance. Think along the lines of Lara Croft, minus the "I'm just too good for your sorry male butt" attitude. While I expect to be the hero of game, I would like a woman that feels like my equal in terms of what she contributes to plot. Personally, Morrigan came close to this for me, except that when it came to actual romantic emotions she had no confidance at all, and where she did have confidance she only offered really dumb suggestions. It made sense for her, but it wasn't what I would have seen as ideal in a love interest. Miranda actually comes pretty darn close. My only problem with that aspect of ME2 was that everything was much too fast paced and kind of felt rushed.

So those are my initial thoughts on that. What are yours?

Careful, the amount of romance threads could cause a cataclysm.

leliana was great.. I thought her romance and character was basically the best of all the orgins characters. If you ever played BG2, all the romances were interesting, its hard to decide which was my favorite there, they all had there plusses. Jaheria was probably closest to what you seak.. try playing BG2, though i do recomend playing BG first. sure the game play might feel a little outdated, but then again there is plenty of charm in it, and the characters and party combos blow DAO away, even though the characters say tons more in DAO, BG shows its not the amount you talk, its what you say which is everything..

PS, i never thought lara croft had a im to good for you attitude. I played the games, saw the movies, and read both the comic book serries.

I dont really have any opinions, as long as they dont make her materialistic, i really hate that..

A sexually agressive woman who is unashamed of her drive. Doesn't do it because she's manipulative or eeeeeevil, but does it for the simple reason that she wants to. Not a victim, not the product of an abusive home or any of that. Just a girl who knows what she likes and is proud of it.

Since the other 'female LI' thread is nothing but posts about boobs and pictures of half-naked women with little substance, I'll post here:

I'd love to see a more aggressive and stalwart and tough (physically and opinionated, but not overtly pushy) female LI. A warrior woman that can hold her own just fine to be an equal at the side of her significant other, reliable and dependable upon earning the trust/relationship. Someone fierce that can also be tender (but not overly romantic and squishy like Leliana or Aerie).

I think you might have some unrealistic expectations there, dear Watson.

Leliana did feel the most natural to me. And I enjoyed the conversation options with her the most out of the recent games. In the "eye candy" thread pics were posted from Prince of Persia. She was a great character, but that really wasn't the kind of game I'd like to see this in.

I just want to see a qunari LI. I expect a lot of interesting dialogue, since she obviously betrayed the Qun. Nice thing to compare to Sten beliefs...

Also "insert controversial sexist joke here"

I'll probaly ask for mod to lock down my other thread soon since it's gone way more off topic than it should be and has become nothing but stupid jokes

Do you mean philisophically as in "she needs to have human imperfections" or do you mean as in "not an elf."

I'd like to see someone who loves your character enough to discard their past beliefs for you. For example, a Templar falling for a Mage or a member of the Chantry breaking their vows or a Noble marrying someone outside their class. It would be fun to challenge the current traditions, especially if you have the power (Champion of Kirkwall) to back up the change.

Ah, I'd like to add that I would love to see a darker-skinned female human LI, too. Female LIs are rarely that in video games. Viconia, being Drow, does not really count in my eyes.  We have had male LIs such as Aarin Gend and Jacob, so I think it would be nice diversity in terms of look and the roster of romance companions to have a female LI human that is darker-skinned.

Primarily, I would like to see a female qunari love interest. Since she would obviously be a fighting woman, the most likely personality tool would be that she is some sort of outcast. If she were a member of that sect of qunari where women can fight, I doubt she would be interested in romance, due to the fact that --in so much as I can glean from Mr. Gaider's posts-- she wouldn't consider herself a woman.

Or she could be a qunari who was born and raised outside of Qun lands. That would be a unique take on qunari. It would also let us see a qunari who does not talk like native qunari do, having grown up speaking the Common Tongue.

Game romances are always forced and trivial. They are generally not part of the adventure and feel tacked on. If not for occasional bonuses or achievements I would likely skip them because their cheesy dialog and censored pseudo-sex scenes just come off as silly.

Taking this in mind, I'd also like to have the romance completely revolve around the main plot of the game. Or, perhaps it is better to say that I would like the main plot of the game to revolve around the existence (or lack thereof) of the romance.

Expanding on what someone previously said, I would also like to see a dark-skinned female LI. My personal preference would be a mage. There was a dark-skinned mage in the Blackmarsh Undying who was a very vivid character visually.

And I'd like to hear an Antivan accent on a woman.

Leliana is my absolute favorite romance to date. She is kind and sweet with an edge to her. I'd like to see a female warrior love interest in DA2 with a more aggressive personality than Leliana. But not snide or sarcastic like Morrigan.

Thankfully they're optional.

My list of the perfect girl:

+ Atheist
+ Realist
+ Confident
+ Powerful
+ Snide
+ Honest
+ Determined
+ You actually feel the impact

Basically I want a Morrigan or Miranda romance except in Morrigan's case she becomes "Softened" as opposed to how others were "Hardened" and in Miranda's case she worries less with the past.

Agreed! The snide and sarcasm are amusing but not attractive.
