While a dwarf LI is not a pet craving of mine, if there were, I''d like her to be a Sigrun-esque character. I loved Sigrun.
And darn it, I wanted a Velanna romance! *rage*

Female Qunari/Vashoth Warrior is probably what I'd like most. Though, if she was Qunari then she probably wouldn't consider herself female, due to the society (would make an interesting F/F romance if that was the case). That makes Vashoth more likely in that case, and it would also give an interesting perspective on Qunari society that would counter Sten's. Personality-wise, strong, forceful and determined, but not manipulative like Morrigan. A very straight-forward woman. Basically, I want someone who isn't like Morrigan or Leliana, because we've already gone there, and so it'd end up just looking like they were cheap copies no matter how good they were.

Thankfully they're optional.

Basically I want a Morrigan or Miranda romance except in Morrigan's case she becomes "Softened" as opposed to how others were "Hardened" and in Miranda's case she worries less with the past.

That, and people tend to get way too obsessed with these digital men and women. It's like the love plots are the main attraction about Bioware games for a LOT of people in their core fanbase.

Reaction by other NPCs. The dialogues regarding your romces in origins were some of the best.

This was indeed quite awesome. It made the whole thing much more imersive.

Morrigan was next to perfect only that you had to let her go. If that could be fixed there is nothing more to ask for.

But it was to bad that after the romance scene it pretty much get forgotten by the story.
Which made it look like something unimportant.

The witcher did this right though, your romance got pulled into the story on ocasion and even threated by some bad person...

Edit: Ok, Morrigan had something good attached to the story close before the end if you had romanced her.

I personally seemed to have made a habit of dating girls with kids (maybe that's society's fault though), so I think that would be a unique dynamic. A head-strong mother (possibly a rogue) whose just trying to protect her cub after her baby's daddy got his head lopped off by a qunari. Moreover, the kid could grow in game to give you a real sense of time passing.

The witcher had a much more linear story, and if I recall, only two romances. It's much harder to do with 4 possible romances for each sex. But you are very right, it did seem kinda ignored after a certain point.

I just want it to be...difficult. By that I mean I want there to be reasons why it shouldn't happen, or major obstacles in the way of making it happen. I want to have to work for it, and as a corollary, I want my work to pay off.

Morrigan was just about perfect in this regard, and in fact on my first playthrough, I ended up giving up because I thought it was doomed not to work. I was impatient. But when I tried again and stuck with it, it paid off.

I should clarify that I don't want it to be a case of pursuing the other person outright, only to have them slowly wear down. Rather, it should be maybe a case of both people wearing down at the same time. Maybe starting out as antagonists.

Also I would like to see a non-obvious look to the person. Maybe a little non-traditional beauty, not the stereotypical busty fantasy babe.

Ah, I'd like to add that I would love to see a darker-skinned female human LI, too. Female LIs are rarely that in video games. Viconia, being Drow, does not really count in my eyes.  We have had male LIs such as Aarin Gend and Jacob, so I think it would be nice diversity in terms of look and the roster of romance companions to have a female LI human that is darker-skinned.

Not that I disagree that'd be nice to see more examples, but I'd say one of the most iconic companions/LIs in video games has been a dark skinned female -- Alex Vance from Half Life 2.

I don't really have any 'wants' in terms of personality/physical traits, but what I'd like to see is more of a lead-up and denouement to the relationships in Dragon Age 2. I didn't even know I was in a relationship with Morrigan in the first game until her and Leliana started bickering.

Taking this in mind, I'd also like to have the romance completely revolve around the main plot of the game. Or, perhaps it is better to say that I would like the main plot of the game to revolve around the existence (or lack thereof) of the romance.

It's an interesting concept, but I think it would be difficult to pull off with the ability to choose your PC's gender and possibly orientation. Unless they cut the orientation option and have the love interest's gender be based on your PC's gender.

Kind of like how your rival in Pokemon would also get the pokemon yours was weak against, the bastard.

Morrigan was difficult??? Give her the grimoires, agree with her (or not, you are given so many gifts for her it really doesn't matter), kill her mom and shower her with many gifts. Piece o' cake.

BGII made romance tougher. Nothing but dialogue and actions. Make one wrong move and the opportunity was gone... and you might not even know why.

Well as I defined "difficult," yes: "By that I mean I want there to be reasons why it shouldn't happen, or major obstacles in the way of making it happen."

It was hardly smooth sailing. I'm not just talking about in-game mechanics, but also what she says and how she acts. She pretty much goes out of her way to clarify that love is not part of the equation, and later she even stops "tent time," which I thought was cool. She only finally ever sort of admits it right before she's about to leave you. And she does leave you.

I'm sure it was easier than in other games, but compared to the other DAO romances, hers was fraught with peril. :)

Two words: River Tam.
I was always attracted to characters who were not all right in the head, and her antics were some of the best I've seen. The unpredictability of what they'll do next makes the whole experience of watching that character even beter.

crying? but not because of abuse... something seriously psychologically wrong with the woman, that I have to help her through and help her cope and become a more strong independent woman... I know... ironic since i want a dependent just to make her independent...

I am just a glutton for women leaving me appearantly. Thank god I am actually getting married. The cycle can end.

In Mass Effect 1, choosing Ashley or Liara let you see Shepard in a different light. With Liara, he was more in charge, the "confident one" in the relationship. And she gravitated to him. However, when romancing Ashley it was more a meeting of two very headstrong people, both agreeing to let their guard down. With Ashley Shepard was more awkward and corny as well. I thought it was an interesting dynamic, whether intended or not, that is true to life as well.
Since DA2 is adopting a 3rd person conversation system, it would be wise to use romances to flesh out Hawke's personality as well.

Well, to start; clean underware. I really couldn't stand the fact all my LIs in DA never washed their undies in clean water.

Obviously more conversation options would be nice as well as reflection on the relationship. Other than that, I'm in it for the story, loot and combat. I'm not playing DA as a substitute for speed dating.

Atheist or not i don't care.Just not a zealot.

Realist > You mean pragmatic? No thanks.A bit of Both . I like idealist .A mix of both.

Confident > Confident can be beautiful but i also like naivety and shyness . Confident could mean  annoying for certain ppl.Like Morrigan. Not confident but annoying and naive.Still like her personnality.

Powerful > Well i hope she will kick butt since she could be a party member. But  i realy don't care.

Snide > i pass

Honest > Impossible .. Boring .Honest can equal stupidity .

Determined >  Determination can be found in many aspect.

Can we really just write down someone personality  ..?It's feel like a dating service ..

I'm a 6ft 2 guy with brown hair and blue eyes with a 6 pack and i'm rich .. I drive a mercedes.
I'm searching for a woman who don't care about my abs and my bank account.

Wynne describes her younger self as quite morose and self-hating.

Not that folks with baggage are a new thing in games.
