How about a LI who dumps you for a party member.

It'd have the advantage of being original and DEFINITELY inspire an emotional reaction from the player.

Especially if it's somehow made hard to metagame against.

That would be interesting but I can't even imagine the sh*tstorm that would ensue on the forums if they did this.

And perhaps in a fit of jealousy you poison the party member or get into a fight for the womans honor?

And it happened on Days of Our Lives too. Nothing wrong with it happening here.

Honestly ? I don't mind a psychopathic Tsundere whose favorite pastime is setting things on fire. Midnight fireball competition is a bonus.

Yamato Nadeshiko are boring.

Just remember, it's not the size of the fireball, it's how you use it.

Actually, taking the idea one step further, how about a LI villain who is manipulating you from the start*? Especially if she's as beautiful and charming as Elsa:

* I mean beyond Morrigan.   Like Elsa in Indy 3.

Morrigan :(

EDIT: Sorry for the ex prompt, these suggestions are good, but I believe they would try to not repeat LIs much.

Morrigan was pursuing her own independent interests, ultimately of little consequence to the rest of the plot, aside from who lives and who dies at the end.  I mean a LI villain who is working for the principal antagonst of the game.  Like a LI working with Loghain all along.

Elsa in Indiana Jones III was working for the National Socialists (I'd use their shorter, more common name, but it's censored here) and quite openly betrayed him halfway through the movie.

Fair enough, but will the relationship be doomed then? Or will there be a happy ending?

Hmm, if it's like Elsa it'd be "doomed but a really fun ride that improves the story" - so that a player would want to do it even after they knew (for meta reasons, like it's their second time through th egame) and you could pursue another LI after if you wanted.

Happily ever after would work too, it'd depend really on the overall story, actually.

The key part is that it would have to be well written enough so that:

1) People who DIDNT expect the betrayal would be suitably crushed by it
2) People who DID expect the betrayal would go through the LI anyway because it added to the story

Edit: Actually Elsa is an even better example than I remembered.  By the end of the movie I think some reconciliation would have been possible, but the same flaw in her character that led her to supporting the bad guys also led to her death (greed).  Something similar could work in a game, too.  A

The romances most to my liking would have to be Jaheira from BG2, Tali and Miranda from ME2.

Number one being Jaheira. Strong confident woman but with a softer wounded side she hides. Where it actually took some effort and long building of trust and care before she responded.

I don't think the games are long enough to make that truly rewarding and believable anymore.  And I don't disagree with you.  If you compress a strong but wounded character because of time constraints they turn into a cliche.

I want an elven LI. But not a pathetic beggar from the slums but an elf like they used to be - intelligent and beautiful beyond what humans could ever be, graceful and wise.
And lesbian cos I´ll play a female characterB)

Do those elves exist in DA lore anymore?  I don't read it as closely as some, but I thought they basically covered two factions:  Nativist Dalish elves, and marginalized City elves living in ghettos.

Not questioning your desires, just wondering where it'd come from.  Elves seem to be either angry or downtrodden in DA.

^^^^This response is classic......

I really enjoyed the Iona character....the puppy dog look after the invite was so endearing that it kept me coming back for more in future HN choices. I felt she really deserved more then her station allowed. I really wish she could have escaped.....and when i get to the alienage i so badly wish i could have helped/taken in her daughter....

I also was a huge fan of Aribeth from the get go. Ah, those elven ears....

Sign me up for an female elven romance....just sit down and discuss what we both, like, dislike, and are willing to put up with to a point is always a great start.

well there has been a hint at Arlathan survivers, as in people who fled the capital and who may have gone into hiding and didn't forget.

I'd like to see a Dalish Elf from a tribe that have had very little contact with the outside world.

I also liked Nigella, Eamon's maid at his Denerim Estate, my Cpt Kirk style Cousland always tried to get in everyones pants, but he could never get more than one line out of her before she had to scurry off and do some chore, that girl was oppressed and over worked and he would have shown her some fun.

And there is always Shianni. They would just add her as LI and all my dreams would come true:wub:

I would even accept playing a human instead of an elf if I can have Shianni:wub::wub:

I had a quasi-femcrush on Legend of the Seeker version of Kahlan Amnell.

She was beautiful and strong, a good balance between "eye-candy" and dignified demeanor. Perhaps sort of a mystic warrior type aswell, which could work well in DA2. Image IPB
