Already created my bracket and am voting, but although I think Irenicus is a good one he's not likely to win overall. I have him going to the final four, at least, just 'cause.

What makes me laugh is that certain individuals take these contests seriously. I was once met with an argument that escalated into pitiable fisticuffs over "durr, whos da bestest!"

I voted for him despite my preference for Sarevok as a villain. It's very rare for the more interesting antagonists to win these things. Usually it's someone dull like Sephiroth. ~Waits for the day Sebastian LaCroix even makes one of these contests~

Wow - sorry BG 2 mega-fans.. but I really liked Shenmue 2.
Lan Di gets my vote.

I still lament there will never be a proper Shenmue sequel. Shenmue 2's cliffhanger haunts me.

Sorry, I don't really think Irenicus is a good villain. Voice actor & dialogue is great, but his motivations are utterly stupid, seeking revenge after it's his own stupid fault for trying to force himself in the Seldarine at the cost of the love of his life.
Sarevok is way better, he's someone who basically planned to come into power from in his childhood and nearly succeeded in this if not for <charname>. Brain & brawns.
Dagoth Ur is my favourite villain, but he'll probably not even appear in any poll on that site.

You have no idea how refreshing it is to read that. It's my opinion almost exactly. There are other reasons I prefer Sarevok too, but without going into the minutia of details that sums it up. Given a choice I would take him over Irenicus in a heartbeat. Still, I voted for Irenicus just to show Baldur's Gate series solidarity.

Jon Irenicus would be better in my book, if he were more like Master Li from Jade Empire. Imagine Gorion tutoring <charname> all the way and after the defeat of Sarevok, stepping in and stealing <charname>'s soul, leading to SoA plot.
It would actually make a whole lot more sense then... but I guess with Baldur's Gate, BioWare's storytelling was perhaps still in its infancy...
But naturally, Irenicus is miles better than the faceless ancient evils from Neverwinter Nights & Dragon Age. And Malak... is basically Sarevok's retarded little brother.

I got a question with this thread... who the hell is Sephiroth?
... *googles*
Ah yes, "Sephiroth"... We dismissed that claim...

I would vote...but it's Gamespot, and I feel it would be an insult to him to be associated with that foul, disgusting pit of sell-outs and refuse to go anywhere near it.

Oh, pishaw. It's just a bit o' fun & games. Can't take this stuff seriously. It's not like your favorite dev has hacked up your game series to be something unrecognizable.
About Irenicus: he's in tough in the next round, currently down. Oh woe is us.

It doesn't look like he will win against Shao Kahn. I voted for him again on account of disliking his one-dimensional competition.

Wow, my tastes are obviously not the majorities - I'm not sure more than 1 out of 4 of the ones I voted for won...

Now, who the hell is THAT?
So now a fighting game evil dude wins against an villain which comes from a game with an actual story? Grrreat... Sometimes I wonder where this world is going... then I remember it cycles around the sun...

Which in turn cycles around something even bigger. There are a lot of cycles and not enough triangles in astrophysics.

True... but look at the bright side (serious Off topic deal here) : we can cut the circles and make them triangles!Humanoid_Taifun wrote...

Now, vote for Irenicus! I'm calling the "boys" to lend some support... which means 3 votes

Actually ...
... as a villain, he was not very original.
But as a voice actor, he was the best I know off.

The best part is looking at movies with him and see his lines, and find a connection to Irenicus...
Which makes me think... Irenicus' Early LIFE!
