So hey, new idea.  How about making the passives give special "prestige" classes upon final evolution?  These classes enhance one or two of the skills that are used by the base class, sorta like the specialty classes in ME1.  Like have one of the classes emphasize a skill in a unique way, then have the other classes do something similar (but still quite different) with another skill.  Perhaps have some overlap between what's available for certain classes.  Like an Infiltrator will have one in common with a Soldier and a unique one on one path, and one in common with an Engineer and another unique on the other path.

Unfortunately, I can't think of any good examples right now, so I'll just illustrate my point with generics.

Assassin -> Soldier shared or Unique 1; Operative -> Engineer shared or Unique 2

The same principle would apply to all the other classes.  Soldiers would share with Infiltrators and Vanguards one class each, Engineers would share with Infiltrators and Sentinels one each, and Adepts would share with Vanguards and Sentinels one each.  This would link the classes together in some ways while allowing them to remain unique in others.

Thoughts? :wizard:

I can think of an excellent example and I can even show you how it could work.  Remember ME:1?  Lets take the Adept as an example, in ME:1 you could already do this if you chose Bastion for example it dramatically changed how Stasis worked.  You could now damage the enemy through Stasis.

*Edit* Gah, I seriously over used the word example there. :?

I'm surprised that this isn't getting more attention, now that multi-evolving powers in ME3 are actually confirmed.

Regardless, I'll carry on:

Geth Shield Boost -> Heavy Geth Shield Boost, Improved Geth Shield Boost.
Heavy Geth Shield Boost -> Deployable Geth Shield, Permenant Geth Shield Boost.
Improved Geth Shield Boost -> Geth Shield Disruptor, Geth Electrical Boost.

Deployable Geth Shield - Remember those hexagonal shields the Geth dropped in ME1? Yeah, you get the ability to drop one of those, only with sufficient damage resistance to make it worth it.

Permanant - Acts like Tech Armour, changing the effect from "60 seconds" to "Until destroyed".

Disruptor - When activated, everthing within the radius of you is shocked and their shields are damaged.

Electrical - When active, your weapons gain a large bonus against shields. Disruptor ammo and a Geth Pulse Rifle combined with this would make enemy shielding completely worthless.

X.

Oh I know!  I was really excited to see my idea be more or less confirmed in the article.  Felt awesome.  B)

Interesting ideas, portable cover sounds cool.  I would forsee it being buggy, but otherwise great. :wizard:

Updated the thread title to indicate that something like this is confirmed in ME3!  If that isn't grounds for speculation, I don't know what is! :wizard:

Yeah, I originally imagined Shepard having access to the deployable cover when I thought about some sort of Mass Effect 3 trailer that focuses on Shepard and all the species that they have as allies. And really, what better way to show that you're working with a particular species than by using some of their technology? I feel that a deployable shield would mainly be used for larger firefights where cover is vital, or for when you're about to be hit by something VERY powerful and you need to survive. Mainly, it would just offer an alternative to the current "Now you have more shielding" system.

Yeah, I could see it coming in handy in a pinch, especially when there is no good cover nearby.  It would only be temporary, but it could potentially save Shepard's (or Legion's) hide in combat.  I would say it would work well on a Vanguard who has just charged/beatdown an enemy and is now exposed.

I don't know if I understand the question here.  Are you saying that deployable cover fits the theme of Barrier or Tech Armor better?  Or are you saying that the idea doesn't sound useful?  Clarification please. :wizard:

Think of ME1, where the Geth has those Hexagonal shields that protected them from damage. The thing about Barrier, Tech Armour and Geth Shield Boost is that you carry on taking damage, even if you can survive more. Deployable Cover would give you a chance to regenerate your shielding and reload (if the enemy was using a weapon that staggers you).

Then again, you are called "The Spamming Troll" so I'm not sure if I should have bothered with this response.

Nobody even wants to speculate? I'm to understand that everyone just takes these examples as gospel? Because I appreciate the faith.

A power I'd like to see is a pullover from advent rising Iiked their version of the charge power because I didn't have to charge into an enemy and I could use it instead to quick burst out of tougher enemies ways or I could fast leap across battlefields quick springing from cover to cover and there wasn't much of a timer on it. I'd like that to occur for ME3 way more variety and tactical usage so basically BW extend charge allow us to use it up to 4 times consecutively before cooldown is needed and allow us to pick where or whom we charge with it.

I'd also like an extension onto the cloaking device but have that usable for all classes its wired only infiltrators can use that sense all classes would very much benefit from a cloak. Also allow for it to run for more then 1 second or 1 kill action. Allow us to go all Mokoto on them extend that device for up to 3 - 5 minutes worth of cloaking power and it won't shut off because you fired a shot. The npc enemies if shot by a cloaked individual will not scream out I lost them when they never saw you to begin with, when you shoot one everyone won't auto know where you're from you need to shoot 3 - 4 times from your spot before they figure it out, and after that 5 minute expansion then there will be a cool down time.

I want my all powerful shot gun back with carnage such damage with a pretty pretty light.

No space ninjas that's dumb.

I'd love to see some kind of evolution of the DA2 skill trees. Those were pretty hot.

So, if they get rid of ammo powers, what will they replace them with? A soldier has to have something! As long as it isn't immunity, I'll be good. Anyone have ideas?

The ME1 specific weapon powers maybe? (overkill, carnage, marksman and assassination).
