Since I got Dragon Age I'd been able to run it with the settings maxed out on my i7 Macbook Pro. Occasionally the frame rates dipped into the low teens (I'd guess) during big battles, but it generally ran pretty fast. However when I launched the game recently the game ran extremely slowly, even after turning down the settings. The only way to make it playable is to turn the graphics settings EXTREMELY low. I read that this could be caused by overheating so I used SMCFanControl and air conditioning to make my mac quite cold. Then, the game would run at full settings for about a minute at very high framerates (no stuttering noticable), but then suddenly slows down to something like 5fps–unplayable, despite that the computer hasn't even had a chance to heat up much yet. I have tried reinstalling the game, deleting its preference files, and rebooting multiple times to no avail. Any ideas?
(I originally posted this in the PC support forum, not realizing there was also a mac one…)

I had this problem too, but it went away with the 1.0.3 patch and OS 10.6.4 w/ graphics update.
Or maybe it went away on its own, don't know.

I used to get this too, but haven't had it since the 1.0.4 patch.

Dualie, did 1.0.4 do a sex-change operation on your avatar???
