Ok, so heres the story.  My computer got a virus so I had to wipe it and reinstall everything.  I had saved ME1 onto an external drive, and I thought I stored the save games too.  However I cannot find them, and when I open ME1 it does not give me the option to load an old game.  So is there a specific place I can look to recover these save files?

If not, is there any mod or anything that will let me choose specifically what happened in ME1 when you start a new game?  Thanks.

Bump. I know it may seem petty, but I REALLY don't wanna replay ME1, and starting from scratch in ME2 is rather uncompelling. :/

me1 saves are stored in 'my documents', not the game install folder. If you didn't back that stuff up then the saves are lost.

For the most hassle free option, import someone elses ME1 save. You can trawl www.masseffectsaves.com for something similar or better than what you had.

For the medium difficulty option, download an ME2 save with your preference of bonus weapon/talent, change the ME1 plot flags with Gibbed Save Editor and then import it into ME2.

For the high difficulty option use Gibbed Save Editor to make a blank ME2 save, painstakingly set everything up how you like it, import the save into ME2 and then cheat in your choice of disabled collector vessel weapon/talent with Azureum's Tech Manager.
