I have Mass Effect 1 on DVD.
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000+ 3.01GHz
RAM: 4GB
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 & PhysX SLi with Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS
VRAM: 1.25GB
Sound: HD Audio Device (onboard sound)
OS: Windows 7 Pro (I'm running the game as if the OS were XP SP3 and as Admin)
DirectX Ver: DirectX 9.0c (June2008) or later
At times when I am in the middle of dialog and I am about to select a response the game freezes.
I get a message saying that files are missing or can't be found.
I happened first on Noveria with the NPC by the garage enterance. The other times happen on the Normandy while talking to Garrus, Rex, and Liara.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game after it kept happening on Noveria while talking to the NPC. It stopped happening for a while, but then started up again, so I set the game to run as if I had XP sp3 installed and as Admin. It stopped for a day and started up again.
Game freezes during dialog

I was having a similar problem. The game freezing during dialog. I used the configuration to change the audio option from Hardware to Software. This was a recomendation if your system uses one of several auido cards. I haven't had the problem since making the change.

Tried that, didn't work. I don't get the RaiseException block of lines, but I do get the crash when clicking on a dialogue option. I've seen one or two posters claiming it happens when you click an option while the other person is speaking.
