I think I'd like Liara a lot more if she didn't have such an obnoxious voice. And other than Tali and Ashley, all the LIs are very flat. Liara's got literally nothing going on and Miranda and Jack both have pretty cliched internal conflicts going on. Tali and Ashley actually have some depth, which is what attracted me to them. As for attitude, Tali's definitely my top choice. In life, as in RPGs, I look for a friend before I look for a lover, and Tali's the only one who's with me no matter what. My female character would totally do Garrus, but she's not into guys.

I'm nerdy/geeky/socialy inept, but I liked Ashley until she shot Wrex. What does that say about me?

You didn't catch what Shepard meant when he told Ashley to "be ready?"  :P

Which dialogue option was that? I'll have to check again.

Hell yes. Why get so obsessed with LI's like Liara and Tali in a video game when theres real women you can seek in real life?

It happens after a two choice option.

I'll talk to him - O - Forget about Wrex.

Shepard automatically says it if you select the left one.  Or maybe Ashley says it and Shepard nods.  I forget which, but...

She doesn't just come out of nowhere to shoot Wrex, there was an implied understanding between Shepard and Ashley that she would have your back.   You can still be mad at her for shooting him without your explicit authorization, but it's not like it was totally random.  She would have to already be in position for the option (Signal Ashley) to even be a conversation wheel choice in the first place, right?

That's all I was saying really.

To be honest I didn't think of any of that. Just that Ashley is a religious and conservative person, Jack is an unstable criminal in the end and Miranda is standing up for Cerberus yet dwelling in self pity because she's being used.

Damn right I pick the blue, smart, openminded alien and have a cheerful, purple, neglected mystery as a second

They're all different and none is perfect

Liara's voice is annoying? really, I just don't see that. Now Tali on the other hand she's one of my favorites but for awhile I found Tali's voice really annoying but now her voice has grown on me.

I would have to say that I'm the opposite of nerdy/geeky socially inept

Socially inept? Like the guy in your avatar?

It's interesting that Jacob is the only character who actually acts like a real person regarding the romance options.
The same goes for Jack, BTW.

Let's see, Jack acts like a woman: "hey Shep, you want to f*ck, let's f*ck. It was good for you? Nice. Now get the hell out of here and stop wasting my time".
Or if you want to persue a relationship she's also open.

Jacob on the other hand acts pretty much like the stereotype "male" thing.
To give you credit he acts like ass sometimes, but hey, if Aaliyah was plain naked in a bed I want to see her too.
And let's be honest, men ARE jerks most of the time, it's part of our nature.
Also, Jacob is the only character to tells Shepard to mind her own business and go to hell if she wants to be a pain in the arse.

He's the only one who actually DUMP Shepard, instead eating all the crap that she puts on him.
Like Thane do, for example.
This is also true for Jack, who doesn't give a sh*t about who Shepard is.
"I'm Shepard, saviour of the galaxy", wich Jack reply "Oh yeah, nice. Now go find something better to do, like making sex with an Elcor. With him on the top".

Let's not forget that the behaviour of the two are highly exaggerated for artistic purposes, but also very true in some things.

That's why they bother people so much.

The only one I'm really attracted to in the whole series of the game is Liara, that is because I both like her personality and I think she's hot. I also loved how she's this powerful biotic, i love it when a woman possess all the above qualities but i still get the idea that she could kick my ass... yes, i'm attracted to physically dangerous women, even though she's very sweet to "me" even in ME2. I dunno, maybe I didn't even get that submissive vibe from her so much? I also think that melding ability of her is pretty hot. The combination of all that... Then in me2 and in the comics she goes badass and the way she went after "me", determined and sometimes angry/with passion my attraction for her went through the roof.

The rest of the LI's interest me little, but if I had to choose I like Miranda the most, and I also like those flirty conversations you have with her in the later stages of her romance. I'm a 23 year old virgin and a very introverted geek and so socially awkward I can't even have a conversation with strangers, especially attractive women.

I think that the female LIs (I can't comment on the male ones, being a heterosexual male) quite well conform to several archetypes of women that men find interesting. Ashley's the macho 'can do!' action girl type etc. I'm not sure you can really conclude from people's favourite ME LIs what kind of people they are, but I do know a lot of my geekier friends tend to be into girls who are perhaps a bit awkward or who they want to 'protect'.

I'm more of a closet geek, and I've always been into strong, decisive women so Ashley and Miri are quite up my alley. :P

You assume that nerds would date the same women in a video game that they would choose in real life.

You dragged out the explanation a bit but it's simple: Different LIs are designed to cater to different personalities.

And with that being said, would you say that Tali and Liara were designed to appeal to the....nerdy/geeky guy whereas Miranda, Ash, and Jack were made to appeal to the Alpha male?

An alpha male would choose one of these three "losers"? I doubt it.Someone like aria if she would be available.

I don't think Tali draws only geeks. I do think most geeks who play the game are probably drawn to Tali.

Both of them have dreamy voices. I like Liaras because her voice actress also voices lightning in FF.

This is all very interesting, how much importance a LI in a video game is to so many people... it is, after all a video game...

but anyway, Tali is great because she must use her personality and values/culture to attract mates, not just looks
