Because in DA:O only a human woman if your warden was one could become queen?. If I'm a Hawke and I have a lover and I become king. I don't want it to matter what race she is. My LI should be queen no matter what. EVen if they are dwarf/Elven and even the scary Qunari. OH GOD!

Goblins have been done to death, & yet they still proliferate just fine! It's NOT cliche to have a Female Love Interest when the Elves of this Realm 'Excel at Poverty' instead of getting to be allmighty powerful. Elf Love can't be cliche if the Elf involved is not cliche!

I will say this, lets say they do give you a elven romance and lover who is female. Would you be able to make her your queen or is bioware going to only let us use humans to become queens, because if hawke really is going to change the world won't you want something like that to be possible?

I agree, it shouldn't matter what race they are they should be able to rule by your side. It probably won't be accepted as much by other humans even if you can do it. But to hell with them. I actually do hope if we become some sort of ruler that we can have our love interest character rule by our side.

I'm up with anything except humans. Honestly, I was expecting other races to be major population not just your entire family coming along. More elves!
Yeah, I'm hoping they'll have some more companions of other races. So far most of the characters they've revealed have been Human, and there's one Dwarf. But I guess we'll have to wait till closer to the release date to find out about the full list of companions.

Well, at this point in time all the stories you can possibly tell have already been told; everything is at least a partial cliche at this point. As such, recently RPG characters have needed to resort to accepting being a classic archetype, though adding other quirks that may make them stand out or differ.
It isn't about how cliche something is; it's about making the cliche character come off as being believable that is important.
Take Neverwinter Nights 2 for example. Every single one of those characters is probably the most cliche example of their class and race possible. They didn't feel like it at all though, and that made it a significant experience anyway.

City elf female romance option - this would be interesting, though the rogue romance option has been done enough before for me to be 'meh' about that particular possibility.
Mage elfe female romance option - be it Dalish or city-elf ... no, just no. Made of stereotypes, though Velanna's HATE was amusing.
Personally, I wouldn't say no to a city elf female mercenary. Tough as nails, battle-hardened and appropriately foul-mouthed or sarcastic. Hell, even if not as an LI, just as a companion that would be a fun and more or less new type of party-member to slog through the dirt with.

Battle-hanrdened, tough-as-nails warrior women don't interest me (for example). For one, I don' t find them very believable (with their supermodel thin bodies..and the whole concept on general).

There ain't many fat elves, outside of MMORPGs that is.

I'm willing to bet you won't see more buth female warrior bodies. Just like male mages have bodies that are just as buff as warriors.
I'm haivng trouble taking supermodel female warriors seriously. Give them more realistic bodies, and a few battle-scars...now we're talking.
Still would have trouble taking them seriously as ELITE warriors.

Yeah, but BW did say some things about them mucking about with character models to allow for a wider range of body-types and generally have more realistic models. They applied it to human models, who's to say they can't do the same for elves (well, other than BW themselves, obviously).

Just right?
For bonus points, and for novelty's sake, have her be pretty well adjusted, without any particular personally traumatizing quests relating to a shadowed past, and ending up helping _Hawke_ over his/her problems stemming from the escape from Lothering.

That seems unlikely. The character models so far have shown they aren't going for buff heavily muscled women.

It's not uncommon for Elves to be vegetarians. In DA:O, Elves likely never get fat because they can't ever acquire enough Food to get fat off of.Golden-Rose wrote...

Now that I think of it, a fat Elf isn't cliche, maybe it would be worth a try!

yes ,I agree.more elf love is necessaryZaroktheImmortal wrote...
This is something I wanted in the first game, and since we can only play as human I'm hoping for a female elf romance for some elf love. Elves are awesome, I love fantasy world stories and elves play a large role in most fantasy world fiction settings. So please, give us an elf romance. I'm hoping for a female elven companion as a romance option. And could you imagine the conflict of a story with a human relationship with an elf? Especially one who is to rise to some position of power?
