i mean maybe if there was some kid of twist to it - maybe have her butch or tomboy I could kind of see that - one that could be hawke's eqaul or one up him. but i swear i'm going to puke if she turns out to be another mage, ARCHER, or royalty of some kind. and for God's sake don't have her be overwhelmingly naive, sweet, and innoncent or a tsundere!

The fact is that, as a straight male, your only choices were a jaded, self interested woman who had issues with dealing with her own emotions and a girly-girl semi-adventurous rogue who gave her heart to anyone who held still long enough to give her a purpose (Marjolaine, the Maker, the Warden... think about it).
I'd like to see a strong, independent, emotionally stable woman who does not need you. Someone who is comfortable with her emotions as well as her sexuality and doesn't either try to hide it or is such a hopeless romantic that she falls in love with anything that has a solid pulse.
Most of all. I want the love interest to have to pull your butt out of the fire every now and again. Someone who is an equal rather than an inferior in any sense. Most of all, someone who doesn't have to be "saved".
Unfortunately for the elf character, this character type is difficult to achieve. The victimization of the elves throughout the DA universe has ingrained it into their culture very steeply and I have not met a single elf in game that didn't treat themselves like a victim in some sense of another.
So yeah... I am not entirely eager to see a female elf romance option.

Some people love "chiches"...or should I say Tropes?
Everything you just said you hate, I love.

Well's there's plenty of that to go around, feel free to help yourself. Like other's have pointed out, there was a Bioware game were the ONLY option for romance was nothing but female elves for men.
Yes, there's plenty of fans that want the "same old, same old" but at least one of the writers have expressed wanting to do something different, and there's plenty of the rest of us that are thankful for that. It's boring, over done, and most of all a Mary Sue.

Alistair: *sigh* I don't know about this... What can 2 Wardens do against an entire Blight...?"
Lady Drill Sergeant: "YOU BIG BABY!!! DO YOU WANT TO SAVE THE LAND OR NOT!!? HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN THE 1ST PART OF THE GREY WARDEN MOTTO!!? I WANT 50 PUSH-UPS WHILE THE 1ST PART OF THE GREY WARDEN MOTTO IS CORRECTLY RECOUNTED ON EACH PUSHUP!!! NOW!!!"
Now, imagine the City Elf saying this like a pint sized Drill Sergeant. This might not be a perfect example, but I hope it get's the idea across. I would love seeing this tiny little lady be able to push around even Qunari aggressively & be able to bully people larger then herself habitually. In the above example, it would be hilarious having this Elf Lady that's barely coming up to Alistair's Chest chewing him up to bits every time he acts like a baby!
Now, ya might ask: 'What about the Lore?' & I respond, 'Legends are built by those that break the mold! One of the ways this Elf Companion is fun is that she's become a completely different person by living a completely different life than what her kind usually goes through.
In this case, I imagine a story where this City Elf Girl lost her parents at an early age, & had no surviving family to go to, thus had to live like an orphan. She lived a cruelly hard life, scraping together what living she could while having to face the prejudice of her kind. She found work doing grunt work for the local Militia & grew up alongside the Soldiers stationed there. They were constantly amused at having this scrawny little girl running among their midst at first. She had to get very strong & tough-minded to survive, & as she grew up into her teenage years, it started paying off. When she became a teenager, the Militia started assigning her the job of donning special suits that would turn her into a living Training Dummy so the Militia could practice their Combat Skills on her with training weapons. You would think this was the worst job imaginable for a City Elf, but it was actually the turning point in her life!
This was the 1st time she could legally strike back at Humankind, for her purpose in this job was for Militia that had outgrown Training Dummys & needed to start practicing against foes that fight back. She used this valuable chance to grow ever stronger, tougher, & harder. after enough of these sessions, she had observed enough of this training to start trying to use it herself & she started sometimes actually winning against her opponents. At first, the Drill Sergeant thought the trainees were either being lazy, or failing to keep their guard up just because their target was an Elf Girl. He cracked down on his men, & started watching the training bouts. He quickly noticed the Elf Girl's efforts & was astonished that she was performing comparable to his men from just what she had learned through observation & figuring out what she could during the training bouts. He wasn't big on Elves, but he was big on hard work, perseverance, & talent. He knew that it would practically be a crime to ignore her talent that she had earned fair & square, & offered her a place in the militia. A couple years ago, this would have offended & insulted the men to the point of possible brutal retaliation to the Elf Girl, but now, after all the men had seen of her unnatural toughness & determination to survive, they had actually started changing their minds about her & her Elven Unworthiness & started taking a shine to her.
This was her chance, especially because her years-long development of her tomboy spirit & complete lack of normal female behavior had made her relations with her fellow City Elves less than sociable. (By this point, she was so tough, that she was regarding normal Elves as whiny babies compared to herself.) From here on, she trained alongside the other men as one of them, & she demonstrated so much fortitude & skill, that she rose through the ranks & eventually became the 1st Commander of the Militia to ever get that post before her 30s. She's become a hometown legend to both the Humans & the Elves of her humble small little town, & this legend actually caused a decrease of Elf disrespect & thus a better life for the Elves of this town's Alienage. The Militiamen never tire of seeing the sight of this Elf Girl effectively chewing out criminals & delinquents twice her size & watching her victims cringe in terror at this ferocious little spitfire, then being humiliated for the next few months at having been out-powered by such a tiny little lady that can out-fight, out-intimidate, & out-tough every one of them, even the huge tough guys.
Does this Elf looks like a cool, non-cliche Companion/Romance?

Does this Elf looks like a cool, non-cliche Companion/Romance?I'm no expert Writer, but I hope my Story was at least good enough for a possible rough draft.
I'm not sure if I'd want to have my character date a companion with the personality of a drill sergeant, but it would be interesting to see something like that. But there's so many possibilities of what direction they could have the character go with any race including elves

I wouldn't mind them adding a Dwarf romance, but I also want a female elf romance. Perhaps more non-human romances in general.

I know that in DA:O my elven Male would rater suck on the wet end of a poison bottle than romance a friggin human, you know after his fiance' was nearly raped. that left me with no option for a romance(same sex not an option for me.) Ultimately I want the option to romance who I chose, but not getting that option, I want to at least chose the race and sex.
My City elf male rogue, on the other hand, romanced Leliana because she's beautiful, intelligient, funny and a good person.
What, because one group of humans are bad, they all are?

No the fact that they(humans) have persecuted and abused the elven people and feel that it is ok for them to use them in any fashion does, my elven male had many years to learn to dislike humans, the near rape of his betroth was enough for him to hate them, and he didn't want to get to know the humans in the group, he just wanted to save the realm, the evles in the process. now my human warden he loved himself some of the human lovin.

So Leliana and Alistair, they personally assisted Bann Vaughan in kidnapping your bride and purging the Alienage? How about Wynne and Morrigan, who were also members of a hated minority (mages) and never demonstrated any hatred of elves?
My character's policy was to treat others as they treated him. I'm not saying you roleplayed wrong, I'm saying that "I hate shems" wasn't the ONLY choice to RP your character.

Exactly, and that's how I'd want for an elven character. Not to just hate all humans, but only those that do them wrong.
