I am relieved to see that most of the subjects of those pictures are properly clothed.
Nice finds. Spread the elf love!

All of them were nice but this one was the best IMO.

Actually reading the comments on it I find out it actually a picture of a guy. Looks very much like a female to me.

And that's why they say, "It's not gay if it's an elf". :D

I'd love if there was a soft voiced, feminine looking elf that the player has the option to sleep with and that you only find out is a male afterwards.

I think it'd be a hilarious.

ut Gaider once jumped into a discussion very similar to this, i.e. Why didn't we have an Elven LI, aside from Zevran who almost didn't count as an Elf, and his explanation, basically, came down to, "The reason there were no Elven LIs is because Elven LIs are cliche and boring. They've been done to death in Fantasy." It was an argument that was a "wee" bit hollow considering you can find plenty of Fantasy novels and even games were the Hero has romanced women of all types.

A stupid arguement IMO.... At least from the standpoint of someone who uses fantasy as an excape from reality instead it it actually becomming their default reality.

99.9999% of the world romances humans.
You will not get to romance an elf in real life.
Human romances are cliche.

Thats an oversimplification, but you get my point.... If you make fantasy games for a living. and read fantasy novels non-stop, then perhaps elves are cliche.

If your a normal smuck with normal job and a family and a normal life, an elf romance is still something of a novelty.
Hell. A romance with a sweet feminine girl is a novelty for most guys these days. All the females I work with and have dated recently are over aggressive and always out to prove themselves in the modern world.

The human love interests in DAO were more cliche to me then an steryotypical elf romance would have been.
I know more Marandas Morigans in my life then Talis or Liaras. And im sick of it.

"im a strong woman, hear me roar, and listen to me talk about myself. Thats how ill respect you and sleep you, regardless of your own virtues.."
THAT is the cliche modern female to me (obvious generalization here. its just a trend that seems to be increasing IMO)

It's not a fetish, my good man, it's taste. Plain and simple.

To some, there is little difference.

Hitting things with swords and spells has been done to death. AWAY WITH IT I SAY!

Again. What is cliche in fantisy is novel for people who have spent all week in real life. Thats why the "cliches" in fantasy work, and will continue to work...... not that a good writer or developer cant put a new spin on it and put it in a new context to make it all the more fresh and engaging.

Ortaya Alevli wrote...

I tried to romance a horse once. Didn't go as planned.

You wouldnt happen to be from South Carolina, would you?

i mean maybe if there was some kid of twist to it - maybe have her butch or tomboy I could kind of see that - one that could be hawke's eqaul or one up him. but i swear i'm going to puke if she turns out to be another mage, ARCHER, or royalty of some kind. and for God's sake don't have her be overwhelmingly naive, sweet, and innoncent or a tsundere!

Please do. I would like that. As would many guys. And something I seem to find rather rare.

Dont want it? fine, go for the human/dwarf/quanari romance.

Like equals? Good. I respect that.
But realize that a short, submissive, and sweet woman with an air of kindness and nobility is MUCH more interesting and rare then a woman who wants to equal you in all.

Neither is better then the other. and each can be unique if given the proper writer and context.

I happen to like some stereotypes.

Battle-hanrdened, tough-as-nails warrior women don't interest me (for example). For one, I don' t find them very believable (with their supermodel thin bodies..and the whole concept on general).

QFT.
And breaking a cliche just to break a cliche is a cliche..... and overusing a qord without a solid context is also cliche.
Lets just stop using the word cliche.

There are somethings and themes people like. And I trust Bioware to do it right.
They will give us variety.

But give us an elf.
Because at the end of the day, count me in with the guys who like short, sweet, and deep.

PS:
As a human male nobel you can romance a female elf .... For a verry verry short while.
Anyone else here love that option? wish it could have had more depth/time?

I'm no American. Are people there into that sort of thing? I might consider spending a couple of months there.

Brr...even I am disturbed by the mere thought of the prospect, which is saying something.

While I share the sentiment, with this wording it sounded so wrong in so many ways that I don't know where to begin...

^I actually made a mod that let's Iona survive that arrow..and she follows you around. Nekkid at first (till you kill they guys in front), she then gets dressed...and she follows you to the exit (can get killed at this point)..and you can find her again after that in the alianage. :)

And yea.

Given the body type, a warrior woman just looks far less credible...they need more muscled bodies.

Mind that warrior women are a rarity in itself, and becoming a member of a elite fighting force is as about as likely as a woman breaking a man-held olympic record.

You know, this sounds brilliant. Now, if only there were suitable voice lines for the alienage part in the game files...

Maybe it's possible to scrounge something from Mardy's lines? Gotta check it out sometime.

Every female love interest in Bioware's fantasy RPGs have been elven, with the exceptions of Morrigan, Leliana and Sharwyn.

I'm from South Carolina.  And let me tell you, as soon as I can get out of this state, I plan to.  You know something is wrong, when on three seprate occasions, the Daily Show has thanked you for making thier jobs so easy.  In less than 2 years.

I really had no idea dwarf chicks had such a large following. I myself wouldn't romance one, for reasons I have extensively explained in the dwarf romance thread.
If you guys get your dwarf lovin' I'll be happy for you, I suppose.

Depressingly horrible thought: what if DA2 does have a female dwarf, and said female dwarf becomes our Tali? As in, spawning a horde of crazed fetishists who hijack threads, spam pornographic fanart and screw up polls? Let us all hope such a thing does not happen.

Ha! If this happens, I might just spend my hard-earned £5 on renting DA2 for a week. Seriously if we do get a female elf romance, it would be the only good news released so far about DA2.

I support the ears!

They said they are trying to create something entirely different with romances this time. Elves do not sound too different, not with Nathyrra, Jaheira, Aerie, Viconia and Aribeth (x2) to go against only Morrigan and Leliana.

I thought Varric was going that route for a moment (I still have a slight fear of it), but the people of Varric seem more down to earth than their distant Talimancer cousins.

Well, I appreciate the support, good ser. You are truly a gentleman and a scholar. I'm not counting on it, and I'll certainly enjoy the game as long as we get an LI as ruthless and sexy as Morrigan, but I would indeed like a dwarf lass to at least flirt with.

This doesn't concern me too much. I've never been too annoyed by a particular love group. It's the weird hate groups that bug the crap out of me. And, as a lover of Tali myself, I really can't blame them for their enthusiasm.

BG1 had no romances at all.
BG2 had 3, all elves.
NWN had..don't know what that was...I don't recall any romances - I don't even recall any proper party members
NWN2 - not made by Bioware (and I loved Elanee)
ID1 and 2 - no romances
JE - human
ME1 and 2 - human, human, human, alien, alien

So...yeah...one game that had proper female elven romances, that was 10 YEARS AGO. Yes, I feel overwhelmed!<_<

Yes depressing. IT's kinda weird tough...Tali has a sweet, Aerie-like personality, so I get how one can love that. But you never see the face...

Ironicly, most fanart of her gives her very elven features...basicly turning her into a space elf.

In realit,y she may lok like this:

I did say fantasy roleplaying games done by Bioware, so ignore Jade Empire, Mass Effect, Knights of the Old Republic and others, they do not count in this matter. Neverwinter Nights had Aribeth in the official campaign, Nathyrra and Aribeth in Hordes of the Underdark. So it still goes with six elven romances against two human ones.

Everything else of other genres do not count because the bulk of the writers have been on the fantasy RPG side and David Gaider mentioned elven romances being over-done in fantasy.

Please do your homework.
