@oldag07: More likely Liara takes over the SB network.

This is all speculation of course.  How about Liara takes over the SB network, or Shepard hands it to Cerebrus and Liara is free.

More speculation of course.  I am not sure if the Asari spectre is on Shepard's side.
1.  Maybe the asari spectre owes the SB a favor. Spectres don't have to play by the rules
2.  I am in the middle of a 3rd playthrough of ME1, and have seen that the Shadow Broker is not an illegal entity in Citadel space like Cerebrus is.  Cerebus is an enemy of the Council.  Maybe the council finds the SB useful, and has the asari spectre to protect the SB.
3.  If Shepard let the council die, I question why an Asari Spectre would have any loyalty to the human council.  Maybe this is another rogue spectre.

Adding a spectre antagonist would be a brilliant plot device.

I like that idea but why would the council send a Spectre to take out another Spectre that they support(happens if you let the council live and accept their support). A Spectre as important as Commander Shepard, being the only human in the group. Neither Udina or Anderson would let that fly. Or Captain Bailey. :P

Well, honestly, it could be all three reasons.  If you saved the council and you are a spectre, than the Spectre is rogue.  If you are not a spectre than the council sent a spectre after you.

As logical and simple as that sounds, I doubt BioWare would differentiate her that much considering Paragon Conrad Verner learned how to shove a gun in people's faces from Commander "Have Ten Bucks" Shepard.<_<

OK, the voice of the Shadow Broker is very Reaper-esque.
Just... wow.

What about if the Shadow Broker is actually a Reaper!  I never thought about that until now.  If you think about, it would make sense.  I need to get these comics before I play this DLC!

Just misunderstood, Don't judge a book by it's cover

Image IPB

Misunderstood my tukas! The shadow broker helped set up Shepard to die, and then tried to sell his body to the Collectors. He/she/them/it also almost certianly had a hand in giving info on 'vunerable' colonies.

He has at least as much information if not more then the Council or even the Illusive Man/Cerebrus. It knew the consequances if its actions. If it doesn't, then at the very least its in league with the Reapers(who are of course lying to him like they have done to countless species/people) or most likely, indotrinated much like Saren was.

No the Shadow Broker is not 'missunderstood'. We may understand him a little to well, even every war there are proffitteers who will do or say anything to get what they want. He is one such entity and need to be dealth with.

Image IPBHe just wants a little attention in his secluded life!

well i dont think the shadow broker is indoctrinated, in fact he/she is following the same exact process he/she has being doing from the begining and thats selling information to the highest bidder regardless of who they are, simple as that, and as always the buyers are just playing the game and nobody ever wins, maybe the shadow broker is still neutral after all haha but then again neutral isnt always fair i guess

Any info on if this is post-Suicide Mission?

I sure hope so.  I've been dying for something that takes place after the suicide mission.

It can be both but the experience is "richer" if you so it post suicide. Look back a couple pages and you'll see Chris Priestly's post about that.

So, I've asked Chris yesterday if LotSB will take place before or after the suicide mission.

Hello Chris.

I have a question about Lair of the Shadow Broker. I know it's close to release, but could you tell me if LotSB will take place before or after the suicide mission? I'd really like to know :)

Regards.

Chris Priestly wrote...
I've said this before, but it takes place either.

Does no one know this? If not, I'll say it again.

.....................

lolwut? I didn't notice him saying anything about this. Also, am I getting this right? It'll have before and after suicide mission content? =O

I bet you we will finally trap the shadow broker and enter his office and then the chair will spin round and it will actually be a remote computer and the shadow broker will say something like:

"You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for my Empire in a fistfight with you? No. You need an ace in the hole. Mine's Liara."

*Liara turns to Shepard*

"Sorry - it was the only way I could guarantee Theron's safety"

*Kill Liara - END DLC*

Takes care of the problem of transferring Liara to ME3. That's all I'll say.

I hate you with a passion and a vengance I usually reserve for hippies and game developers...

I want armor with a Spectre insignia on the shoulder, or at least a shoulder piece attachment with the insignia like the asari spectre... especially since I had my spectre status reinserted!

Bring back specter gear. Now that you(Bioware) can piece mail armor can we get specter grade armor and gear?

Ok, some people have been asking when the Lair of the Shadowbroker DLC "takes place" in Mass Effect 2. As in can you play it before the suicide mission or only after.

I went to the font of knowledge (the Mass Effect writers) and asked them. They said:

"Like many of our missions, you can do the Shadowbroker DLC before or after the suicide mission. However, because we understood that most players would be coming to this after the suicide mission, we weighted the dialog much more heavily toward the assumption that the player had already completed it."

So, you CAN do it before you do the suicide mission, but you'll get a different (and possibly more flavorful) reaction if you play it after.

Hope this makes sense. :)

Had to fish for this a bit...

If Priestly is really throwing us a bone here, huzzah!! No third playthrough required!

I wish they had the Illusive Man give Shepard the "info" personally, through the holographic interface in the Comm Room. Would make for a pretty cool post-breakup conversation.

Still, sounds like amazing DLC.

I just read Redemption yesterday, some of my predictions have come true. I do hope that salarian features, payback's a (female dog).

Liara's face in the video looks quite different to her in her office on Illium.

What I'm going to do is create a save, do the DLC, reload that save and then do the DLC again after the suicide mission.

not going to read through 32 pages to see if anyone else thought this, but while the voice of TSB is reaper like, it also could be a deep voiced drell or krogan. although, there isn't much emotion in the clip, chances are he would be merciless anyway. and if it is a reaper, that doesn't explain what happens in the comics unless there is a reaper hierarchy (trying not to include spoilers). Also, if it IS a reaper, then there is no gender to discuss. a reaper is more like a collective. it would include all pieces from whatever sentient race.

Lair of the Shadow Broker is a continuation and conclusion of the events in Mass Effect: Redemption. Likewise, Feron is a character who was introduced in the Redemption mini-series.
