In no particular order, the most interesting theories as to who the Shadow Broker might be:

The fabled 13th member of the League of One, or a descendant thereof.
Shepard's father (not likely, but interesting)
The asari bartender on Ilium (who could also be Liara's father)

Very unlikely, but it would be funny:
Conrad Verner

I'll roll my eyes if its:
TIM
A reaper
An AI
Miranda's father

Seeing as my Shep allegedly saw his father killed by slavers, I sincerely doubt that's a possibility.

I doubt IGN knew what they were talking about honestly. I don't think Liara will be a squad member. Not because it's impossible, but because it would require voice recording for stuff you could do post suicide mission in addition to the DLC audio.

-Polite

They never said she would she would be a permanent squad member. All they said was that she was part of the team in the segment they played.

No. "Liara makes her triumphant return as a squad member." This doesn't imply that she's the squadmate in a certain segment, but permanently. If she isn't a squadmember, it's misleading. So either they're jumping to conclusions, know something we don't, or she will be a squad member. But this headline above is making it sound as if she's recruitable. I don't care either way, but still looking at the way they worded it.

-Polite

Isn't that a bit presumptive? I don't see how Liara being mentioned as returning as a squad member indicates it's going to be in a permanent fashion. It's likely segment-only but to be frank there's not enough information to make a determination yet.

I'd say 50-50 chance Liara stays on the ship after the mission.

Presumptive on my part? Or theirs? My only issue is that their headline suggests that she's returning as a squadmate. In all of the screenshots/the trailer we see Shepard with 2 squaddies, and then Liara. Meaning she's not a squadmate, but an npc like Garrus during his recruitment. Given that, plus the headline of the article from IGN, what connection would you make? They're making it sound as if she's joining your team again.

-Polite

Correct. She is joining the team again. We just can't say if it's going to be a permanent or temporary stay. I guess the fault really lays with Bioware for being deliberately vague and ambiguous about the DLC.

Exactly. But the way IGN's describing it, it sounds as if she's joining your crew. I'm simply saying that it could be misleading if it that's not the case.

Nah...Liara will have an excuse for why she can't join after the LotSB mission. There's data to look at and stuff.

Can it wait a bit? I'm in the middle of some calibrations.

Yup...Liara fans will get the Garrus treatment :P

Well you'll most likely have to wait and see. Because some people want to actually play it and find out rather than have Bioware tell them what's going to happen and who's who.

IGN said "triumphant return as a squadmember". Not so triumphant if it's for 2-3 hours now isn't it? The way they worded it makes it sound as if you get her in your squad again. If that's the case, then why do the screenshot's show something entirely different? Unless Bioware's increasing the amount of squad members you can have out during each mission, I find it hard to believe.

-Polite

just to point out this is the first of the "bridging" content between me2 and 3, liara therfore could be available as a squadmate in further dlc's, hence a slightly more triumphant return than 2-3 hours, that said this is entirely speculation, but we can still hope right? eitherway im damn happy to simply talk to liara thats a big step up from the current situation

It's clearly Feron, what do you mean you want solid proof. Why else would the Shadow Broker say that Liara's "interference caused all this." if it wasn't the one drell who helped her interfere... Shadow you're just... never take a deductive reasoning test okay?

Misleading depending on whom you consider to be a squadmate. Do you consider only those crewmates that you bring with you as squadmates? Or do you include Joker and EDI? I believe Liara will become a squadmate in the same style as Joker and EDI.

Do we need them to tell us that the Asari hugging Shepard and wearing the white outfit is Liara? I mean she kinda looks different and the voice syncing isn't 100%. No, of course we don't, unless we have evidence to prove otherwise. You shouldn't be looking for confirmation that the drell is Feron, when there is no evidence against that conclusion. You have a very guilty until proven innocent attitude about this.

Sorry I haven't read all 43 pages of this thread, but has BioWare determined what time it comes out? Mountain Time? Pacific? Central? Eastern? I would prefer to download it at midnight and play it all night, but I don't know if that would be a waste of time or not.

The past DLC has been released around Noon Eastern time in my experience.

OH YES. Us lowly "fans". Look out, you may get some of our germs on your shoes if you step in the wrong place. Why not leave so that you aren't tainted by us. Oh, and take your asinine egotistic personality with you.

I believe this is the exact case... if she were going to be added on as a squadmate permanently, team wise, there would have been extra dialogue recorded for her that would be within the game itself, and so far, no one has found any such dialogue... not to mention, as mentioned before, she would be almost entirely mute. She would have no actual dialogue or opinion on any of the situations in the actual story, unless voice acting is easier to set up and record than I think.

Needless to say, Im pretty sure the reason Liara wasnt an actual squadmate, was because her VA's role as Lightning in FFXIII interfered with recording possibilities.... that was my initial reaction to begin with...

I very highly doubt her actual return as a combat squadmate.

Well, weve heard them say a lot of things, massive DLC support for Mass Effect, etc etc.

Im still on the fence with it.... infact, the first hour may be Liara's recruitment mission, it certainly seems set up that way.

Go to character, talk to them, go to area, complete task for them while meeting interesting character that is the focus of the mission, go back, recruit.

If it is indeed her recruitment mission, then it looks very Samara-esque to me.

I could be wrong, but Im always the more skeptical "seeing is believing" type.

And 2 years of DA:O DLC. And interrupts in ME1. And a customizable Mako in ME1. None of these things bother me terribly, but they also lead me to believe that sometimes Bioware makes claims when they're not totally etched in stone yet. Kinda like an adorable little Peter Molyneaux Jr.
