BioWare also said that Kasumi was the last squaddie being added to ME2.

And 2 years of DA:O DLC. And interrupts in ME1. And a customizable Mako in ME1. None of these things bother me terribly, but they also lead me to believe that sometimes Bioware makes claims when they're not totally etched in stone yet. Kinda like an adorable little Peter Molyneaux Jr.

Dont even get me started on Peter Molyneaux...

But yes, you are very, very correct.

IGN said "triumphant return as a squadmember". Not so triumphant if it's for 2-3 hours now isn't it? The way they worded it makes it sound as if you get her in your squad again. If that's the case, then why do the screenshot's show something entirely different? Unless Bioware's increasing the amount of squad members you can have out during each mission, I find it hard to believe.

Well, to be fair, IGN does say that what they are telling us is based on a thirty-minute preview of the DLC.

Hello
Mcfly, I said >DEVELOPERS< to confirm that it's feron in the
game, someone like Chris Prestly or another from Bioware Company,

So, what type of judge you are to go around demanding proof? Appeal at least, I hope! ;)

Exactly. But the way IGN's describing it, it sounds as if she's joining your crew. I'm simply saying that it could be misleading if it that's not the case.

Bah, we are so close now, we will find out by ourself soon.
And since the choice was already made for us by Bioware, we can't do anything.

If she is a squad mate i would love it, and if she is not, i won't be desapointed (not too much).

We can also speculate that IGN say this only to help the DLC to sell beter.
and after they say "OUPS, our bad, we meant it was only for the mission, not for the whole game" Posted Image

Just kidding.

They certainly can give her temporary squadmember status in the same way Wilson "joins" your squad before Miranda's apt little greeting at the end of the Lazarus facility at the start of the game.

However, as there's no room left for additional squadmates on the team-selection screen, I doubt she'll be joining on a permanent basis.

*Hammers head against wall* Why does everybody assume that the team selection screen can't be changed, if necessary?

I'm 90 % sure that Liara won't be joining on a permanent basis, but the team selection screen is pretty much irrelevant.

I'm 100% sure.  Bioware has already stated that Kasumi is the last squadmember.  Plus they want to keep Liara alive for ME3.  Everyone should get it through their heads that LIARA WILL NOT BE JOINING THE SQUAD OUTSIDE OF THIS ONE MISSION.

And do you remember when they said that the 'dirty dozen' squadmembers was just a figure of speech, and didn't mean that there are going to be 12 squadmembers? Or that there was going to be no ME2 for PS3?

So, yeah, sometimes they don't tell you what they are planning, because they want to surprise you. Sometimes there's contractual obligations. And sometimes, plans change. So, no, based on the info available, it's not 100 % certain, just very unlikely! :)

Ok all you guys thinking she wont be on the team. This is my idea. Chris said the writing is geared towards the completion of the SM. AKA under the impression that you did it. You can do it before but itll be better if you do it after. Maybe if you do it after the SM she becomes a squaddie, or comes onto your ship. I mean who knows, Bioware knows what we want, cant see why they wouldnt deliver.

and the speculation on liara being a squad member...possible. it all depends if bioware was careful how they worded their original response after the Kasumi DLC came out. they mentioned "no new squad members" after Kasumi. Liara isn't exactly new. Like I said, all depends if they were speaking carefully not to elude to Liara returning. Plus I remember reading that if you do it before or after the suicide mission, different things will happen. And doing it afterwards may be favorable. Maybe doing it after the suicide mission means Liara is just on the ship. Eh, who really knows but Bioware. getting real close.

But in this case there will be some different endings if you play the DLC before or after the SM. Chris only said that if you play the DLC after SM you may be more satisfied. The DLC can be played before or after, so i don't think that will contain bonus content if it's played post-SM. If it's true, it would be awesome, anyway.

Well I'm certainly not ready to move on from ME2 just yet, but like with Overlord I'll play it straight away with a post SM Shepard. I have seven Shepards of various classes, genders, love interests and personalities waiting to visit the SB's lair, but I still have yet to do an Adept and Infiltrator playthru on ME1 and ME2, so when I do those I'll maybe do LotSB pre SM.

On the speculation, I think there'll be missions where Liara is a fully controlable squadmate like any other, but will end up residing at the SB's lair and maybe the intel centre will replace Cerberus network in bringing us news snippets from the ME universe (although how that would work pre-SM IDK (forget I even said it!))

About her joining, not that its necessarily going to happen (or even likely), but with Chris's saying the DLC will be more 'satisfying' post SM, perhaps if you play pre-SM she states she's busy and can't join you at the conclusion of the DLC, and then becomes 'un-busy' post SM (for use in potential future DLC/expansion) wheras if played post SM she joins you directly after the DLC is completed?

I've been thinking about the same thing, and it would both a) make sense B) be pretty cool.

We'll know soon enough (but it's going to be a really long four days.)

Even in the end, the Liara fans STILL hold on to that final ember of hope....They fan it, blow on it.....Do everything they can to keep that hope alive even when most of the facts are already on the table and said evidence is stacked against them.  It's almost....admirable....."almost" Posted Image

Since you're quoting me, I feel obligated to point out that I'm not even a 'Liara fan'. Not by any stretch of imagination (I roll Systems Alliance style, baby). There just seems to be a biotic hole in my team that needs to be filled... :)

Someone may have already said this (scanning every post becomes tedious when people keep quoting two, three, five, ten previous posts in replies instead of just cutting and pasting) but I certainly hope it's crossed minds somewhere, other than my own, that you wax the Shadow Broker and Liara replaces him. This would also explain the Information Center becoming a visitable location. Your old pal Liara is now running it.

An excuse that works preSM but not postSM? Don´t know. Having her take control of SB´s group makes also far more sense with a Paragon SM - she is someone you trust, unlike TIM. Sad thing is they could have written her out of SM by having Shepard say s/he wants someone trustworthy out of the mission to prepare things for the Reapers in case SM was literally that. Liara and Wrex are the closest friends with both a power place and the will and possibility to act (Anderson is too tied by politics - and then Retribution happened).

You take down the TSB. But right when you are about to kill him he barters info to save his life, info on the reapers. The game plot thickens in a lead in to ME3.

I doubt we will get liara as more than a temp squad member but the argument that the squad screen cant hold more isn't really valid. Bioware drew it to start with I'm sure they can resize it and add in another if they so wished.

But they wont....Bottom line Posted Image

@Funker - I meant no disrespect toward you specifically so, my bad if it seemed as such.  It was meant more toward the actual hardcore Liara fans that constantly whine and pine over having her as a squaddie before ME3.  And as to the other matter:  I dont roll Cerberus (technically) OR Alliance.  I believe Cerberus (TIM specifically) has some ulterior motives so I dont completely trust him and therefore try to keep him at arms length on a "professional" level as much as possible.  Which is why on the side mission where you have the option to upload the Cerberus operative data to Cerberus, The Alliance, or your own personal files, I always ALWAYS upload it to my personal files.  Reason being: 1.) That way if Cerberus (TIM) tries to pull a fast one on my Shepard, I can (hopefully) use said data as a bargaining/leverage tool against him.  2.) I just LOATHE the Alliance and anything to do with the Alliance simply because they are too wrapped up in politics to see any threat that's right in front of them that goes beyond their little narrow scope of "reality".

Even when I had the option in another side mission where you could only stop one of the missles....I ALWAYS choose to save the colony not because it's saving hundreds/thousands of lives (it just happens to be a fortunate bi-product of the decision) but because it's screwing over the Alliance.  Even if it's only a little, I will always go out of my way (if given the option) to screw the Alliance over.  And given the option to do so in ME3, I will side with anyone that ISNT Alliance.  Meaning if my only two choices are Cerberus and Alliance, Im siding with Cerberus regardless.  However, if by some miraculous act of divine intervention I am given a "Secret option C" of siding with neither Cerberus OR the Alliance, I will choose that option instead.

Yes, he is able to continue his relationship with Liara

:"Liara T'Soni is tracking down the mysterious Shadow Broker, and no one
is safe. She'll do anything to recover the man the Broker kidnapped...
and the Shadow Broker's agents will do anything to stop her. Team up
with Liara and chase clues from the luxurious heights of Illium to the
Shadow Broker's own secret lair. This DLC adds the Shadow Broker intel
center, new research, and five new achievements – and the chance to
continue a relationship with Liara."
