To get technical, it's strongly suggested that the defeat of the "possessed" Saren caused Sovereign's kinetic barriers to overload, a point further emphasized by the fact that Sovereign seemed to have been "knocked out," falling off of the tower before any decisively damaging shots were even fired. Mass Effect 2's codex also points out that Sovereign's shields overloaded "at about the same time Shepard killed Saren," as well. It's possible that Sovereign's actual consciousness had taken over Saren's body and that Sovereign's mind actually died before the "body" did.

But yeah, this is kind of off-topic...

Well yeah, there is the whole getting knocked out thing, that's probably why the SR1's pathetic guns managed to put a hole through it. Sovereign pwns Harbinger, and Liara pwns them both! Back onto topic nao!

Lol, We havent even seen Harbinger in action. Might as well say Sovereign pwns every reaper shown at the end of ME2.  Has Bioware said how long the DLC shpuld last?

What made the reapers terrifying to me was that they were so beyond us that we barely even registered to them. Sovereign didn't give a crap. Harbinger obssesing over Shepard kinda took away from that.
