Maybe this was what Liara was intended to look like in ME2 from the get-go, but for whatever reason was left out of the shipped version of the game.

Considering her model was already redesigned slightly for ME2, I doubt that very much, otherwise they would have just made those changes in the first place.

This DLC allowsthem to fix this. Perhaps it will retcon Liara's look for the rest of the game as well, changing "Liara changed in 5min' to 'Liara changed in 2yrs'.

God... I hope not! That would be even lamer.

I'd just really like to know why they did it really. Because right now it just seems like a pointless change for the sake of change, which always just pisses me off.

I hope they're not planning on pulling a Dragon Age 2 with ME3 by giving the whole series a complete visual overhaul and this is just the first taste we get of it.

people change after 2 years dude and honestly i like the new liara because she seems to be more adult than the kid side to her from me1

im hoping its udina..... who else knows shepards military record and current beef with the reapers? udina was pretty quick to say the reapers dont exist and keep in mind udina himself could be a cerberus agent but this time political and what crazy way to screw a human war hero is a human himself?

I was kinda thinking this too, but then I thought about how the last story DLC was based primarily around a rouge VI and I don't think that Bioware would beat a dead horse like that.

That doesn't work the same way with almost ageless asari, does it?

Maybe asari change throughout their life, and that's why Liara's eyes are different?

Or they're filling up with tears?

She's wearing lipstick or maybe undergoing changes to become a matriarch?

That could explain her changes.

And, I wonder if when we download the game if her face will change for subsequent playthroughs, and be the same even when we replay ME2 and haven't done the Shadow Broker DLC yet.

:o MATRIARCH?! :o

I'm honestly trying not to let my sarcastic side get the better of me, but did I sleep through 3 years of my life? Liara T'Soni was 106 or 107 during the events of the first game. Now, in the second, she's 108 or 109-- still "barely an adult by asari standards". A Matriarch is what, 800 or so.

Liara T'Soni on the Mass Effect Wiki.

I'd repeat my post, but I'm not going to debate this subject with you.

In short: you don't care about the character, fine, but I do.

BTW, the characters are part of a story, you can't exactly ignore them.

if they made liara with a ****** than yea we all would have something to complain about but i think its really pathetic that you asume someone dosent care about a charachter because they dont follow your views. and no eyes dont make the charachter nimrod the story of that charachter does.

Oh? Here I thought I expressing my opinion and you were expressing... yours. Dear, Tazzmission, I wasn't aware you were speaking in the name of the community ("we"). I surely would have paid more attention to the way you twisted my words into an amalgam of crap to palm an insult at the end.

My sincere apologies, community...

Now, please, reply with another insult. And who knows-- maybe you'll form a legible sentence along the way.

No, the freckles are not new. They were present in her ME1 model. Obviously the texture res was lower so they might have been harder to see, but they were there.

The change in Liara's eyes - which I actually quite like - could be simply that she's upset.  Alternatively she could starting to go through the biological changes that take place between the maiden stage and the matron stage of her life.  Normally Asari aren't supposed to go from maiden to matron till there about 300 but if I recall the codex correctly it can happen earlier.

I think "earlier" doesn't really mean 2/3 out of a 300 year long period. I could be wrong...

Nope, same face. I htink you're looking at the wrong asari.

What? We didn't say Liara was teh ONLY asari you'd meet in LotS did we?

../../../images/forum/emoticons/devil.png

Her
face model may be the same, but the textures are definitely different.
Liara usually had light purple lips, now they're a darker blue. It's
also darker around her eyes. Definitely something changed with her
make-up or something since we last saw her on Illium.

I dunno... Damn, I seriously hope I'm wrong and it's an eye error, but "the New and Improved" Liara doesn't spark much confidence on my end. The trailer was awesome, I admit, the first time I watched it, my jaw dropped and it hazed a bit.  Upon closer inspection, though, surprise-surprise, Liara looks... not like Liara.

Does anyone see the problem?

THE EYES!!!

there could be a million reasons why her eye colour is diffrent, maybe she is getting older, contacts and so on, don't let a little thing like that get to you, alot of games makes this mistake and if you keep thing about it you'll go insane, just come up for a reason for it in your head.

I don't get it. Her eyes still look blue to me. What is eveyone complaining about?

A) Some folks think she looks too different, "off" and or ugly.

B) Some people wonder why the sudden change, not theorys but biowares reasoning.

If they added purple lips/freckles/eyeshadow and those baby blues from before I'd be on board.

I can kinda swallow the emotional baggage weighing on her change but just barely.

To me she's not quite Liara.

Different strokes for different blokes I guess.

Now I want to go and do another ME1>ME2 playthrough actually bothering to romance Liara this time :pinched:
(as I had previously avoided romance on all my different playthroughs)

Just hoping that the aircar chase sequence is as fun to play as it is to watch, even if I totally suck at driving games

I think it's a combination of Liara wearing different makeup/no makeup and something going on with her eyes... her pupils don't seem as dark and if animated shows have taught me anything that means... she's going blind!

or it's a stylistic choice... or it's something that naturally happens with Asari

But yeah I'm ok with this.

Yeah, you're probably right. Still, it was one explanation of how the SB did what he did for so long, with such prescision. As the trailer said, he's been a power unto himself, yet never disrupted the balance, in decades. That would require an almost...inhuman (inorganic?) ability.

But yeah, with overlord and all he probably isn't an AI.

On topic, I really don't mind how Liara looks. She can be missing half her jaw like Garrus for all I care.

Ohh... Biotic bubble barrier. Liara's loyalty power? :P

Knowing how squad AI works, it's probably a 'cut scene ability'. :pouts:

That would be hilarious, but somehow, utterly appropriate.

I'd like to see a salarian end up being a big bad though.  So far all of the heavies in the series have been human, asari, or turian.
