You can tell Sten to leave I think, though WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT ITS STEN. Ahem.

I love how people have romanticized the Qunari and Sten.

You all do realize they're a horribly xenophobic race hell bent on conquering and wiping out every other culture in their world right?

Funny things happen when two people from polar opposite cultures fall in love.  Barriers can and have been broken down.  It's certainly not easy, but far from impossible.

Actually I don't see Sten as a love interest, but rather like a cool big brother you want to hang around with and annoy the hell out of. The xenophobia and jihad sensibilities are just so endearing when juxtaposed with his love for cookies and playing with kittens. Though a human/Qunari relationship would be awesome because, well, Sten is a qunari. We don't need to use logic here, durrrr.

Edit: Also, the Qunari don't want to wipe out every other culture, they believe that everyone should follow the way of the Qun. The Chantry led an Exalted March against the elves for the same reason [except they did it in the name of some chick named Andraste and her boyfriend, the Maker]. Plus, the conquered territories are run very efficiently under the Qun, + many humans actually become devout Qun believers.

OMG.
Finally.
A reason to play as a Dalish Elf.

In other news, does this mean that Morrigan can die? :]

What gives you that impression?

Yes, I would rather have 100 Sten DLCs rather than a Morrigan DLC. Unless you've done the DR and reeeally want to see what happens to your precious godbaby (which accounts for most male gamers I assume) Morrigans DLC won't really be all that appealing. But DA caters first to the male demographic, so I shouldn't be surprised.

You can tell Sten to leave I think, though WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT ITS STEN. Ahem.

Why such hate for Morrigan?

And I would have loved more DLC's. I would have liked to have had something with Zevaran, and see Antiva.

I don't hate "hate" her, but the only time I've felt a real connection with her was when I played as a male. When you're a female Warden, Morrigan is just mostly shrew-ish and doesn't do much for you in the friend department. Especially if you play "nice" Warden. I can take a certain amount of renegadeness, but really, Morri? You want me to sacrifice these elves to get +10 Const?? [uses Slap Morrigan mod].

Actually when I played as a female CE I really connected with Morrigan. They still bickered endlessly about how to deal with others but Morrigan's stories about her mother and how she seemed entirely unwilling to shed a tear over them really inspired Kaillan. It may not have been your standard bosom sisters relationship but there was an unspoken respect between the two.

Unlikely. Even Alistair wasn't willing to put his love on the throne beside him. Imagine someone as devoted to his ways as Sten. Not gonna happen.

At least not with any of my Wardens.

'Oh what's that, Sten? You want to cut out my tongue and have me treated worse than a slave. Not gonna happen. Hope you Qunari are flame retardant.'

I agree.  My female Circle Mage had a sisterly thing going with Morrigan.  She partially envied and looked up to Morrigan and Flemeth for being strong mages independent of the Circle.  My mage was a good person, but she was also independent, spirited, and firmly Liberatarian.  In that sense, she got along well with Morrigan, and whenever I lost influence with her for being decent, it was either in minor enough increments that I didn't care, or I could negate the influence hit with persuasion.

I was sooo sad when she left.  And very curious to see what happens to her now.

EDIT: And as for Sten, if you bring him to the Circle and especially if you're a mage, you can talk to him about his views on magic.  Press him long enough and you get a very bitter statement about how his people have suffered at the hands of the Tevinter magisters, and how he knows the horrors of powerful magic.  My mage still didn't like his people's practices, but she could sort of see where Sten was coming from given their battles with the Tevinter, and you do get the opportunity to talk to him and reason with him in the tower, mellow out his viewpoints somewhat.

I don't know, I believe I would have felt more sympathy for her if she didn't insist on channeling her sadness/dissatisfaction with life/whatever via a total lack of sympathy for other people. None of the companions had it easy, everyone had a pretty heart-wrenching back story (I think I felt the most for Zevran, since he never really had a say in the direction of his life) so Morrigans whole "I grew up with a really mean/cranky old lady" just wasn't enough to justify her behavior, for the most part.

Hell, I felt more for Oghren after we went to the Gauntlet. Now that was an admission of soul-breaking proportions.

It was a moment of blind rage/temporary insanity. And he was gave himself up willingly when he could have just ran away. Not that it completely excuses him from the crime, but Sten is not an unfeeling murderer. Heck, humans in real life have done much much worse, and you don't find a lot of cases of criminals turning themselves in after slaughtering a whole lot of people. It takes a real sense of honor to do that, and a whole load of guilt.

Actually, the giants want to convert us all to their heathen Qun.  They'll only wipe out the ones that have the moral and intestinal fortitude to stick by the One True Way of the Andrastian Chantry.

I see we have very different views on what Sten's actions say about who he is.

Anyway...

Having looked at the trailer I wish I hadn't. I'm eager to learn more about Tevinter magic and what that device was used for but I still don't understand why Morrigan is there in the first place which has made me wary of the DLC's plot. It's like the finale of season one for LOST. You just knew however exciting it was the solutions they'll be coming up with won't make a lick of sense.

BTW! Can anyone tell me what the last line or the trailer is? "Some doors should never be..." something. I can't understand it.

It's probably "opened." But I can't tell.

That we do. Our opinions differ so greatly that there is nothing to do but engage in a duel to the death.

Do you have a champion?

My champion will be Escargo, a kitten ninja assassin.

Posted Image

Her sleeping pose may be all cutesy, but this feline has been trained by Qunari kitten trainers which means she will be super effective.

On-topic: My meh-ness towards Morrigan aside, if this is the final DLC Bioware should be putting a lot of work into it, at least more than what was invested in Lelianas Song (which was pretty good).

Lol, the only completed save I have left is a Dalish elf. I sure as hell hope that the beginning for that changes, otherwise I'd be kind of pissed that no one remembered my Warden. Like, "Hey, guys, remember me? I'm right here and I saved all your butts from the Archdemon AND got the queen to give land to the Dalish AND did a whole bunch of other crap I really didn't want to do but did anyway so we could all still be here." If my clan says that I died or disappeared or whatever... they're mean :'[

I think it's really neat that, if you were a Dalish Warden, you suddenly get a brand new attachment to this DLC.

Agreed. My current Warden is Dalish and had a romance with Morrigan. Should make this playthrough interesting.

The warden I just made specifically for this DLC, as I had not romanced Morrigan on anyone, is also Dalish.

How did BioWare know?
