Yet Jowan was so weak he got himself locked up, and me letting him out gets me approval points from Morrigan.

Jowan was also in a castle full of armed guards while working for Loghain thinking Loghain would get him out.

The fact is I'M the strong one solving their problems, yet siding with the rich guy who was stupid enough to jack up prices to a bunch of desperate people while working alone gets me approval points

I'm sorry but how is the merchant stupid for putting up his prices? The large majority of people in real life would do it, it's capitalism at it's finest and anybody who honestly tells me they wouldn't do the same in real life is either one of the very small minority or a liar.

whereas putting the rich guy who thinks he can buy my cooperation with a small pittance in his place nets me disapproval.

Because you're helping the poor people who refuse to help themselves. Give a man a fish story all over again. You help them out, they never learn how to look out for  themselves and in the end get stepped on later.

As a side note though, Morrigan is closer to Jade Empire's Closed Fist ideology.

You give money to the beggar and she disapproves because you made the beggar more dependent on you rather than letting him fend for himself, to learn how to become stronger by himself. Most of the time she disapproves because you're helping people who refuse to help themselves, people who are only getting in your character's own way for their needs.

Morrigan is a social darwinist or something. She would probably also really dig Ayn Rand.

Figures. I abhor Ayn Rand. Mary Gaitskill's Fat and Thin perfectly encapsulated the major fail of her core principles and how deluded she was as a human being. Though The Fountainhead was good writing. I cannae lie.

Your view of things is incredibly skewed. To morrigan the merchant was in a position of power that he placed himself in through cunning. The villagers were weak because they had the power to change their circumstances as it related to the merchant but didn't and instead relied upon someone elses intervention.

Yet Jowan was so weak he got himself locked up, and me letting him out gets me approval points from Morrigan.

The problem is we get no option to bully morrigan and terrorize her and show her how weak and foolish she is.

You can basically think of Morrigan as having the mentality of a wild animal. She's all about survival and economy of effort/resources, and she approves of others who share her values. So, she approves of Jowan and Sten being freed because she hates seeing things caged and she's an apostate herself and knows what it's like to be hunted. She approves of the merchant because he sees an opportunity to advance himself and is seizing it, and she would do the same. It's not really malice, more just a detached selfishness and general lack of empathy. You can't call her evil any more than you can call a wolf evil for killing a rabbit. Understand this and you can predict how her approval will change in a given situation.

That said, she still has a gooey center of human feelings but you have to uncover it slowly.

Never heard of looters? thieves? The man was out there alone and antagonizing people. Remember all those desperate people who attack you if you try to leave Lothering?

The man was an idiot who was banking on people being "law-abiding citizens" to save his sorry ass.

He had armed guards at his side and was following the laws. I don't see how you can call him stupid because other people would be willing to attack him.

One on one, I like Morrigan just fine. In a party, she's a bit to acerbic for my taste. Do I agree with her perspective? No. But I understand it and will not condemn her for it. Morrigan has a very limited scope of what is "good" and "bad". If you befriend her, she gains perspective. Wanting to put a dagger through her "moldy heart", in my opinion, sounds a lot like the attitude that created the witch trials of the 17th century. When you see her as morally reprehensible and do nothing to help her gain perspective, you are just as bad as the judges who burned those poor women at the stake. Just a reminder that unadulterated hate is in and of itself an abhorrent thing.

The point being that those people didn't loot, maim, kill or otherwise touch the merchant. And seeing how there was a chantry sister at the head of the pack it was very unlikely that she would allow it to come to violence. I'm wondering if you play the game with blinders on or some ****.

Exactly. Godwin's Law is either a cop-out or a shock tactic, and your use of Godwin's Law was completely a shock tactic. Comparing Morrigan to Hitler to make people feel bad about connecting with her? Guess what, ****?
1) I am sure more than half of these people understand reality versus fiction.
2) YOU KNOW IT'S A VIDEO GAME RITE?

Brry, Imma let you finish, but Saddam Hussein was the most evil dictator OF ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME.

Seriously, I think people should update the Hitler thing. He is sooo 1945.

I agree with the Evil part. But how did you come up with the Most?

I used the term "most" for the dramatic effect. I don't really know who the "most" evil dictator is, God (if he exists at all) is the only being who would be able to judge something of that magnitude. Also, tried using Pinochet and Milosevic but they didn't really fit in well with a "Imma let you finish" sentence, rhythm-wise.

Morrigan. Is a b****

Compared to "the Maker whispers to me so I can feel special" Leliana?

Morrigan had issues but I've never understood the dislike of her. Especially when compared to a self-righteous and utterly deluded character like Leliana.

Implying i liked lelina.

I married the queen and became KING MUTHA F***A

Leliana sucks, and morrigan can go kill herself, in fact if that was a dialog option, i would encourage her to. Only nerds liked her cause she showed her bewbs with that ****** robe she had

Lol wut?  I just kept her around for teh luls. Leliana isn't half as entertaining as her.

God can't be a judge since he does not interfere in your life directly or indirectly. There are people who claim he does.

The most evil you ask?

here.

Fix'd.

Sorry.

Urm, I don't "hate" her, in fact she is 3 times out of 5 usually in my party just because banter is a little more fun when she is around, but your idea of what is "politically correct" is kind of weird.

Example:
Not being politically correct = Is to use the term "midgets" instead of "little people".
Unabashed cruelty = Is to support the death and destruction of other people (like the elves and the mages) because they are weak/just because/it will bring you some sort of gain like +1 Constitution :wizard:

I know, I mean +1 constitution? I had 40 at the time, talk about underwhelming.

Someone should make a mod to make it +10. At least it will be justified. Sheesh Bioware, talk about not rewarding evil. We get it. You want us to be good. :(

Exactly, If it was a substantial boost, it would be an interesting moral choice.  The player could kill the slaves, significantly increasing the odds of defeating the Archdemon, or the player could take a gamble and tackle the Archdemon with their conscience intact.  The way it currently is, the only point of killing them seems to be appeasing Morrigan and Sten.

I didn't know that Sten approved of that. I thought he was against magic in general? How odd.

Me = -10 approval :(

Sten also believes in your being stronger than the people who can't help themselves. Not the magic itself.

It would help if they had coordinated efforts better. She says she is not stupid to pact with a demon in Connor´s Fade, then disapproves if you don´t in Shale´s village. Doesn´t seem a fan of blood magic, but that´s what the Tevinter offers. Free Jowan and Sten, but kill city elves? Really? At least in the tower she explains her logic (and you can play successfully the "walk in their shoes" card, sadly that´s the option where Wynne borrows the idiot ball).

Either that or Flemeth was brilliant in giving her Stupid Evil tendencies to make easier the body theft.

I guess you children forgot we are discussing morrigan.  If you wish to boohoo about a man holding a peaceful rally to honor American Veterans and to promote constitutional morals and values then take it somehwere else.

I'm going to infer you watch one of the 3 big news media outlets or your parents/significant other feeds you the crap.  This article should be good reading for you two:
