I like the Espada. it has gotten more interesting now that Aizen is starting to fight. The Night Owl wrote...
I used to watch a lot of Bleach but it goes on and on and eventually, I abandoned the series.

This is more manga related, but check this cracked article out, and you will lose the respect that you had for japenese people.

I looked at it and it doesn't really change my perspective on the Japanese people considering that there is a series I hate being mentioned (Hellsing), a lot of "creative" people in Japan like to steal ideas from other people's original work, but its no different there than anywhere else, its just that most of these people in Japan are so dishonest that they manage to actually get away with it without being taken into court, Hellsing for example, was written by one of the biggest plagiarizers in the anime industry, non-other than Chiaki J. Konaka, the no-talent hack who absolutely loves to turn other people's work into his own, and manages to make a living out of it.

(but seriously, all the anime that are really worth watching are 12-25 eipisodes before they end. rarely they get to around 50)
Eureka Seven
Kara no Kyoukai
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex
Bakemonogatari
Clannad
The Vision of Escaflone
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Wolf's Rain
The Tower of Druaga

Thats only your opinion and nothing more, there are massive fanbases of anime with more than a 100 episodes, their opinion counts just as much as yours.

I tend to prefer more serious animes, with deeper, developing characters and an engrossing storyline. They are harder to find, but well worth the time I spend searching for them.
"Neon Genesis Evangelion" is a good one that's worth watching if thats the type of stuff you like, the original series is excellent though I don't reccomend "Death and Rebirth" or "The End of Evangelion" movies as they are pretty much rubbish in my opinion, I enjoyed the surreal ending of the series itself and am enjoying the new "Rebuild of Evangelion" series of movies coming out recently...

Well... I have to agree with the_one to a certain extent. The higher quality animes tend to be shorter 13-26 episodes in length, or somewhere around 40-50 episodes at the most. Beyond that, the story becomes diluted by filler episodes and fluff meant to fatten up the series with less material to show for it. Therefore, typically you'll see the quality of the series decrease as the series grows over time.

Well ones with fillers such as Bleach don't capture my attention up to a certain extent, but I disagree with some of the titles on this list, though that is my own perspective and nothing more.

No [feces]. But that doesn't increase the quality of those shows any more. It's the same phenomenon with all American TV shows. They start out great, and then the producers want to milk them for as much money as they can, so they make more episodes and more episodes and season after season after season until the writers just don't have any more good ideas and it all starts to get awful, at which point the viewers/fans start getting bored and then they just axe the show because the ratings aren't high enough and no one is happy with it except the executives that made all the money. All really good stories have a beginning a middle and an end.The Night Owl wrote...

Shows like these blow the never-ending-shows out of the water with ease:
Katanagatari
My HiME
Macross Frontier
Scrapped Princess
The Record of Lodoss War
Spice and Wolf

I too have very discerning tastes. However, the wide variety of anime is beneficial since it opens the market to a wide variety of people.

I agree with where you stand, but I have run into so many Naruto, One Piece and Bleach fans that I have learned to take a neutral stance on this matter, but I think you are right about them being shorter and better, I only buy boxed sets of shows that actually end for example, there is no need to get aggressive with me here, try to understand that I am trying to appeal to everybody who likes anime including those who like the ones that are massive in scope of filler episodes and being milked for more than they are worth.
