Merrill is most likely the straight LI.

Has anyone said Merrill is not a F/F LI? I mean Isabela is as close to confirmed as we will get without official confirmation but do you have anything beyond speculation that has conclusively ruled out Merrill as a F/F romance?

Merrill is most likely a straight LI and very, very  probably a straight only LI but AFAIK neither supposition has been confirmed.

Has anyone said Merrill is not a F/F LI? I mean Isabela is as close to confirmed as we will get without official confirmation but do you have anything beyond speculation that has conclusively ruled out Merrill as a F/F romance?

Merrill is most likely a straight LI and very, very  probably a straight only LI but AFAIK neither supposition has been confirmed.

I don't  believe there's any point in entertaining the possibility of DA2 having two F/F love interests, regardless of the lack of confirmation.

You must have misheard, Aveline is definitely not which means Merrill must be.

The latest confirmation was that Aveline wasn't a LI by Mark Darrah an interview.  Something linked on the last page of this very thread by myself.

If you know of something more than please link us to it.

Yes i thought Merill is the only option in the no 2 slot for straight LI unless bioware pull an audio on us and bring in another character? or show that cassandra can be a companion?

Well I think BW would have a pretty hard time explaining why Isabela is bi in DA:O but not in DA2, so I'd say Isabela is a good as confirmed as F/F option.



The only remaining question is if Merril will be as well.

Here's my take on it:



ManShep: Isabela (rivalry), Merril (friendship). Bethany's out, now Aveline is out. Isabela's been conformed for males, so with Aveline out that leaves Merril by default.



FemShep: Fenris (rivalry), Anders (friendship). Fenris seems pretty obvious - he's a bishie for the girls to squee over. That leaves Varric or Anders, and I just can't see them not doing a human for each gender. I also think it's likely there will be a rival & a friendship romance, one for each gender.



Gays, and others not wanting the above, will get Kelly Chambers, or whatever they are calling him/her now. As with ME2, it will be a non-party member, won't give you the Paramour achievement, and you won't even see a kiss.

Not sure what that last line from you concerning all previous games is about...ME2 simply continued where ME1 left off (no m/m -f/f with Liara) DA:O, had M/M and F/F, Jade Empire also had both, KoToR had F/F...I don't see any grounds for your pessimism.
