i could actually see Mamma hawke and femHawke arguing about this if you go for isabela:
Mom: you're what? Daughter, Please think for a second-
FemHawke: Mom can't you let me live my life the way i want to? Ugh
Mom: Girl drop this "i dont care about anything but her" act and get a man!
FemHawke: [leave]
It's worth noting that in Thedas, homosexuality is considered eccentric, but not immoral. And that the player-character is not an only child or even an only surviving child, meaning Mama Hawke still has a shot at grandkids even if she doesn't get them from Marian/Garrett.
note that Hawke family is technically nobility, and you know how nobility is with such things^_^
its just pragmatism anyway, but still, Mama hawke would expect, her kids to hold some sense of nobility

also look up amell family and you'll get what i mean.
As an actual Prince out here in the real world, I can confirm at least from my family(the paternal side which descends from Sikh warrior kings) that being homosexual or even bisexual would've been looked down upon.
I'm straight. Always have been, always will be. But when I was younger, if I even acted "gay" as a joke or some such, I'd get a lot of people trying to make me feel like crud over it.
I'm sure that if I were to actually ask them today about how'd they'd feel if I were gay, they'd say they'll accept it and whatever, but I doubt thats how they'd actually feel.
I'm an only child. I'm the heir, and if I die before impregnating someone or just never have a child with a woman, the heir title would move to one of my cousins.
As much as I'm okay with one of them being the heir, I'd prefer to keep that title myself, thanks.
So my Princeship stays with me until I have a child, in which case I technically become King and my child/children become Princes and Princesses. And thus, the royal line continues.
To be honest, I have no problem with homosexuality/bisexuality and I find it completely normal.
Thing is, my case is very VERY unique compared to the average person, so if I were to be gay or one of my children were, it could cause problems as far as continuing the line is concerned.
