I am glad that this game accomadates people of all sexual orientations. However I am surprised at the length of such a thread. Do this many lesbians actually play this game, or is it mostly males with f/f fantasies that are looking for such f/f romances?

If they were to have more than one bi female, it should be Aveline. Isabella is an extremely attractive woman, much like a lipstick lesbian. They could use aveline as the more butch, masculine lesbian option. Same with the m/m choices. A pretty boy, and a more rugged man who just happens to be gay. But I doubt there will be more than 1 homosexual or bisexual character for each gender. That would be overboard, considering only 2% of the human population is homosexual (I believe).

Both. And straight women also tend to do same sex playthroughs or 'crush' on female characters.

LOL...Honestly, I think a high number of people enjoy all romance options regardless of their sexual orientation. I remember reading a comment from one of the devs saying how one of the things they didn't expect from DA:O was the incredible success of the romances....heh that being said, yeah IMO lesbian/bi girls enjoy f/f the most with straight dudes who find it hot second, followed by everyone else---->totally unscientific and unreliable

I wouldn't consider Isabela a lipstick lesbian. She seems quite rough and tumble compared to Merril, Morrigan, or Leliana.

That said, while they could go Isabela/Aveline, "feminine"/"masculine," they could also go Isabela/Merril, experienced and worldly/innocent, or Isabela/Cassandra, wild and hedonistic/controlled and duty-bound.

One of the nice things about lesbianism is that you don't have to organize your relationships and lovers by gender stereotypes.

Isabella reminds me of a party girl who if given enough drink, will swing either way. Aveline isn't as butch as everyone says she is; she's a rather lovely character design imo.And I thought she should have been a same sex LI. Can't say much about Merrill other than she's not as tribal looking and blonde as I'd hoped.

Also many of us players, more than you might think and of both genders, have a bit of bi in them. Therefore the gender of the warden, Shepard or Hawke and his/her LI is not that important. If we like the looks, personality and style of the LI that is all we need.

A man needn't have a lesbian fetish to enjoy F/F romances. I'm sure that there are plenty of straight men whose idea of love just fits best with a F/F relationship. Men and women love differently.

I don't play the F/F romances just because I get to play myself. It's just that women are... different. And it's more gratifying to see women love one another than it is to see them love men. Obviously, that feeling is completely different from person to person. But you don't need to be a lesbian to have the greatest admiration for that brand of affection.

what little we know of Aveline, if she was gay it would appear that she would
be butch. But if she turns out to be more feminine than we think, she would be
a chapstick lesbian. It's all very simple.

I think Isabela would be happy to swing both ways with or without drink. She seems happy to invite Lady Hawke to her room at the end of the demo.

Aveline looks like an average woman to me. It seems that within a computer game, that's masculine. Then again, she might be more butch when we get to know her.

As much as I wish Aveline was a LI and a f/f LI that's only because I'm greedy and want as many options as possible.  But just because she isn't stereotypically feminine for a video game characters she's going to continue to get a a disgusting amount of people insulting her beauty and questioning her sexuality.  I could just imagine an exasperated Aveline doing a reenactment of this NSFW scene.

I really like what I've seen of Aveline. To me, it's not that she's feminine or masculine... she seems beyond gender roles. She's tough as nails, but she still looks very much like a woman. No one could mistake her for a man. But there she is, shield in hand, punching out darkspawn. It's like Buffy for normal-looking people.

[EDIT] Also, had she been a romance, I'd have done it.

I have to say after seeing Isabela's intro in the demo I totally want to romance her in my Lady Hawke play through. Fenris will (hopefully) be my LI in the male playthough but I like Isabela so much more now, she's so badass, I love it. She'll must be romanced!
