How about a female city elf warrior with the samurai mindset. Ready to die for you in the heat of battle and serve her ladyship even with her dying breath. An extremely loyal warrior who grew up as an orphan in the Alienage and managed to escape but instead of going to the Dalish, she ended up with a master swordsman who taught her swordsmanship and how to steel her mind. When her master died, she was distraught yet decided to continue on his teachings by roaming the land and forming a reputation as the best swordsman around. When you actually meet up with her, you find her in the woods someplace very tired from hunger and thirst so you can give her some rations you have or leave her there. When you do give her the rations, she swears an oath of following you until her last breath. Personality wise, instead of being loyal to you and following your decisions despite if it goes against her moral compass and conscious, she seems cold and distant and doesn't grow attached to others. She is always up for a worthy challenge if she deems the challenger is good enough to face her. She tends to avoid senseless bloodshed and is always analyzing others to get a better understanding of who they are which leads her to be not very sociable. She doesn't like to side tracked when there is a task to be done. Stays silent until spoken to only if the question or statement is worth responding to. Lady Hawke can romance her but it would probably take time since she believes that she is only an extension of your body to use at will and believes that you are of a higher plane than her so by becoming intimate with you. she will only dirty you. Though with hard work and persistence, you can finally overcome her barriers. She also has no problem telling you about her history, preferences, etc. Though when she was training with her master, she spent a lot of time in isolation preparing her body and mind for the sword. When she escaped from the Alienage and met up with her master, she was only 9 and you meet up with her when she is 19. She also keeps a cool head during battle.

I predict Varric is going to make me sad he didn't exist in Origins for my lady dwarves to romance. 

I'm also in the "no Lelianas" camp. She's the only romance in Origins I've never ended the game with, I just ... she's OK as a friend but she really does not do it for me. I'm a straight woman, though, so even though I am perfectly happy romancing ladies as a gameplay thing, I think my opinion should probably count less here.

Aw, thanks. I just don't want to be all elbowing people with a larger stake (such as it is) in such things out of the way in my eagerness to say how much I disliked Leliana as a love interest! It is interesting to see what people DID like about her, at least. It's not that I thought she had no redeeming qualities, she just didn't ring my bell, if you will.

I think when it comes to Leliana she's got a number of things going for her. She's got that great accent, she's such a 'good' person, yet she also is mysterious and secretive as well, at least at first. Once she opens up to you, you learn about her past mis-deeds, and how she wants to be a better person, and you just naturally want to help her with that, while at the same time being much better than her former girlfriend, the evil Marjolaine. She's so sweet and romantic also, she makes it very hard to ever 'not' romance her. Of course the fact that she's very attractive is also a plus . So yeah, I guess the bottom line is that Leliana is just awesome .

Alright, to get this thread back on trail, Ariane from WH would be a very nice option for a F/F romance. Not sure if she would swing that way, but I'd like someone like her.

  Yeah I would like to see a Dalish as I think I specified earlier in the thread.  Ariane was actually around the lines of what I was thinking.

Sheryl Chee did state that Finn and Ariane would become a duo that would be traveling and adventuring in the future (the reason why the Statue tells Finn that they won't see each other again, he's not returning to the Circle). Still, we can wish that they'll remain just friends and that she'll be available to us!

And seriously, Ariane totally owned in WH! I think she made my own character look weak!
