I'm also in the "no Lelianas" camp. She's the only romance in Origins I've never ended the game with, I just ... she's OK as a friend but she really does not do it for me. I'm a straight woman, though, so even though I am perfectly happy romancing ladies as a gameplay thing, I think my opinion should probably count less here. :P

I'm the complete opposite... in fact Lels in the only squad mate in DA:O I actually like. I either dislike or couldn't care less about all of the others. So the thought of finishing the game with an LI other than Lels is completely out of the question.

100% agreed. I did end up giving the other romance options a go and found Leliana to be by far the deepest love interest, and one of the deepest characters.

On my most recent play through I intentionally went through the options to harden her character as well and I was impressed. The character and her relationship with the Warden felt very genuine. It was no longer about the Maker, about being with a witch, or about a bastard king. It was just two people figuring things out in that environment, and Bioware deserves major cudo's in my opinion.

I just want an f/f option period. Not real picky...beggars can't be choosers.

What do you mean by beggars ? Every Bioware game for years has had at least a half hearthed f/f romance, most even a fully developed one. I really doubt that DA2 will be lacking in this regard.

Yes that's probably his/her point. There's been "a" fem/fem romance, or any kind of homosexual one for that matter. Singular. There's never been any choice.

But to be fair, I'm actually more scared of getting too many LI's as in ME2, especially with any potential to kill them off which basically makes sure each of the individual romances has to be about as short, shallow and with an uncertain future as it gets. I mean don't get me wrong, Liara romance was great what with the LotSB DLC. Period. Since that's the only one that's been truly developed thus far. DAO had great romances too, but there were only 4 possible, and only one homosexual one for either gender. So, keep it few and all's good imo. :)

Honestly though I'm not too picky either. There's a million ways to make it right, and a billion to make it wrong, no way I can list them all here. Just make a character that's not useless and weak, but also one that isn't a total pain in the butt. Something strong, respectable, yet with a tender soft side to them. However "experienced" they are - if you catch my drift - doesn't matter to me, as long as they aren't virgins. Remember these games are for mature people, not teens who still haven't popped their cherries. Of course there's exceptions to that too what with Liara being as good as she was, but that was only due to some profoundly awesome development later on in her character. As long as the character has personality, you know something that makes you respect and care for them as a person, all's well.

I can't help but suspect that shoehorning certain fan-favourite characters into the roles of LIs in ME2 meant that instead of four deeper LIs you ended up with six shallow ones...

Whether that also meant the curtailing of *cough* other alternatives for some of those characters we'll probably never know.

But - as that relates to DA2 - whilst I'd love for all the women LIs to be open to f/f... I'd certainly sooner have one good option than several shallow ones...

I really wouldn't want the female LI for Lady Hawke to become another fan service though, like Liara was.

Even though I sort of liked Liara, myself.

I agree with Uncanny. Let it be 2 LI's per sex - one hetero, other bi, but let these characters be as damn good as the ones in DA:O. And we can leave hideous underwear out this. And add more snuggling!

And to clarify on this, where everyone would rather have one good than several shallow ones (where good is an opinion and typically refers to the person in question finding them good, where it's obvious they wouldn't prefer shallow "less good" options), what is probably meant here is the same that I intended to say before:

Rather one good and deeply developed character - even if it's not exactly the kind of personality I prefer -, than several shallow ones even if one of those shallow ones seemed to be perfectly your type. Because a perfect shallow personality with little dialogue and story, is still less valuable than a mere "good" personality, with great depth and amazing story. Personality and story is key. Without them even the best of characters will feel artificial and unfinished.

Wut?  I don't think any BioWare f/f LI has been just fanservice.

The Asari were mentioned by Bioware to be fanservice. And I don't mean to start off with the same old rant again, but the fact that they would consider F/F romance not included in the predefined Shepard "no ******" concept speaks for itself.

PC gamers already have this... I'm so sorry for console gamers who are stuck with those hideous "let's make love in our undies" cutscenes . Seriously, if you're okay showing decapitations and gory stuff, show us some skin!

Hell, it doesn't have to be a direct close up to the private parts, you can work around with the camera to show fully nude models without actually showing the "offensive stuff"...

This sounds strangely familiar, somehow...

*Gasp!*

But seriously, for all the allegedly mature content in DA:O, it really didn't give its audience enough credit sometimes.

Picky much?

I'm so terribly sorry I resorted to idiomatic generalisation, but I don't believe I require you to clarify what I've said as I have a sneaking suspicion that everyone else knew perfectly well what I was trying to say. <_<

I didn't intend to put words into your mouth. I was expressing my own opinion in my own way.

I will agree that the asari are fanservice, but Liara herself or any part of her romance are not.

Lets be careful how we define fanservice, lest any thing erotic or sensual can't be taken seriously.

Would be interesting to have a situation in DA2 when both FemHawke and her sibling (brother or sister, provided they are not killed at the beginning) are trying to hit on the same girl! Or the girl is trying to hit on FemHawke's sibling while being a clear "target" of our Champion of Kirkwall. Could be humorous or absolutely dramatic!

This.  Maker the last thing I want to see is two women dry humping each other in their undies again... A change music would help too...
I also would like it if none of the LI's had the same cut scene. How Morrigan and Leliana make love the exact same way still perplexes me to this day.
