No, a personality doesn't include in the hot sex and big assets pack that is going to be the lesbian romance. Judging from this thread.

Do you have to be a dwarf to have a great personality?

Yup :innocent:

Erm, why? Because you gain a better perspective when you're closer to the ground?

Great, it is only about eye candy then, and hot romance scenes.

Yeah, as Yana pointed out, that is totally unfair.

This is gaming. It's a fantasy. We're just trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good time.

So we ask for the total package: a fascinating character with a complex, layered personality... who just happens to be smokin' hot! ;)

But what is"hot"

I concluded it from the spam of images and suggestions of recycled characters from DA:O.

I honestly don't wish to be a troll, but the romances will not be tasteful nor dignified if they only go by "hotness" and "great personality".

I hate to slam BW, because I love their games, but if it's tasteful and dignified you're after then I think you're in the wrong place...

I'm really curious, so don't take these questions to be argumentative, but what would make it tasteful and dignified? Or more importantly, why would this ideal be reached only with the inclusion of dwarves?

Oh then don't worry, elves have got that covered. :wizard:

Lol, but I really am curious. I love stanning on Varric, because he seems like he will be a fun character, [admittedly, I hate chest hair and actually like the Varric-love crowd better than I do Varric because they are entertaining] but I just can't see the appeal of dwarfs.

Someone explain this to me stat!

The dwarves are no longer the point in this, but by including dwarves as a romance option, they would send a clear message that their romances aren't only about eye-candy or fulfilling someone's fantasies. It would be a tale about love in another world, where people do feel no particular social stigma to feel attracted to dwarves, for example. The cheap hotness wouldn't be the center of it.

A good romance has a good storyline, doesn't center on the fact that the LI is hot and bothered, has a dramatic build up. The F/F romance is especially vulnerable to becoming typical, as since the majority of the playerbase is male, it could end up to be mainly catered to the male players who find it attractive in general.

The problem with all this is that the F/F romance would end up being available "because it's hot".

That is my point. Just saying.

EDIT: Just like it seemed like it was in ME.

So in theory you would support it if it was a human/elf with a horribly scarred face?

Because I would be down with that as long as the storyline was epic. Dwarf as a species = I can't.

That is out of context. I said these statements in light of what this thread has become lately, spam of images and talking about boobs and arses.

But everyone is free to think or say or discuss whatever they want. I don't mind if the LI is beautiful or in fact "horribly scarred".

So physical attraction is 'cheap'?

And the female players here who want a female LI have to have one who looks a certain way just to put off the boys? I can't agree with that at all. I really don't care what they think. If they want to play that way too then let them... this is a role playing game after all. And why should we be denied something just because of what others think anyway?

If you just have dowdy or plain f/f LIs then that just promotes stereotypical thinking. I don't want to be constantly told I'm expected to wear flat shoes, dungarees and have short hair all the time! :pinched:

As much as I love Sigrun, I simply can't think of dwarves, males or females, as a romance material. Sorry, I am a human/elf afficionada...

I have never said that it is cheap. I have only stated that if romance would only revolve around the fact that the LI is beautiful, has huge boobs, great bum, has a "great personality", then it isn't very realistic.
It's a Mary Sue situation.

Everyone is after aesthetics, but it shouldn't be the crux.

Yes, and you're expected to have a slight mustache and excel at tennis (or some sort of sport).

I favor the storyline above all else, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with appreciating beauty, or wanting to do things *ahem* in appreciation of that beauty. Its healthy, and to be told that you have to like "a certain look" to be considered a thinking individual with depth and character is pure bull.

Short version: I like the hotness, deal with it.B)
