I'd have gone for Sigrun in Awakenings. I think a dwarf romance would be an interesting thing to have in an add on pack... but for the main game I still think there are plenty of avenues to explore for human characters...
Hm, maybe. Bit tricky with addons and stuff.
I support this 100% if you play not Hawk in the addon. I for my part couldnt be unfaithful to Leliana for Sigrun, i just couldnt. Guess that makes me a Softie.
Tis just a bit stupid if your initial romance doesnt go any further... just cause ^^. U usually move on if the old LI isnt there, but since this is (or was in Awakening at least) forced on you, i do not support new LI for an importet character.

If there had been romances in Awakening, I wouldn't have done them with my Leli lover Warden. I'm also a softie!
But with a new character, sure.

How about elves?
The Overlord said that Bioware has done enough elf romances, I don't know about DA2, but I suppose the next installment is far away enough for the elf romance ideas to get refreshed.

This makes no sense at all.

David Gaider said he was tired of elf romances, it had been overdone. DA2 might still be too soon, but the next installment may not be.

What? What exactly is there to be tired of? I can't say I understand his logic, but I guess there go our hopes for an elven LI.

Dwarven characters would be nice too, but the appeal to dwarves is even less than elves for romance in a game, since they are less human-like. Since alot of DA 2's changes are appear to be geared towards broadening it's appeal to action gamers, it would make since the romance options too would be marketed towards a broader base of players. I would be suprised, but pleasantly so, if Bioware gave the game a dwarven romance.

Aribeth doesn't count as an "elf romance" because that was a terrible character and hardly a romance despite valliant efforts in HotU to build a palace out of twigs. So....Jaheira, Aerie (NWN 2 doesn't counts since it's Obsidian) and...who is the other elf? I can't see how elf romances are burned out. I didn't think the character Zevran was all that great, but the take was somewhat interesting. Surely they can apply a new angle on female elven characters.

Well, tell you what! I am rather tired of elfes too. Not because they are done so often in BW games, thats not the case as u pointed out. (U forgot Viconia i think but nvm ^^)
But honestly, elfes are the marry sue of the races. They are always pretty and always the more oconomic, prettier, older and wiser humans. This isnt true in every case for the DA:O universe, but in most it is still true. (Dalish living in the nature and having old/supirior crafting techniques. Ofc they are pretty. They used to live long... the dalish already are living longer again etc) And ye, its kind of stereotypical to have an pretty elf LI.
I for my part would like to see more Jacks more Mirandas more Lelianas more Zevrans!
And they dont need to be an elf. If they are fine, but i dont want an elf LI just because it is an elf LI!

There was Nathyrra. Aribeth was twice a romance, in NWN original campaign and in HOTU.
And Viconia!
Now, let's count the non-elf romances...
Uhm... Leliana, Morrigan...
