Must I bring up what they said about Shepard not being gay (and in that context they meant overall, both men and women) because he is pre-written, iconic and what not?

They ignored the fact that Shepard can already be in a lesbian relationship.
Now, if they did mean only homosexual males, how Shepard can't be one, it is even worse. Why shouldn't he, if femshep can be into women?

All the male homosexual romance lines were done in ME, but scrapped at the last moment. This double-standard I have a problem with, NOT F/F relationships. And Kelly just seems she was there just for fan-service, the Asari were officialy said to be fan-service beforehand as well.

The only problem I see with Kelly romance is that it seemed to be added at the very last moment, hence it was underdeveloped and put as an Easter Egg. Her character however is very sweet and genuine IMO.

I'm well aware of all this but you didn't actually answer my question.

How is Kelly in particular proof of this hypocrisy?

As you pointed out in the original ME we didn't get a true f/f relationship with Ash because BW fudged the issue using the asari.

And if you're suggesting that I'm supposed to consider an off camera dinner and that absurd stripper dance 'easter egg' as a relationship then I'm not convinced.

What's wrong with fan service......I'm a fan, service me. I liked Kelly, she at least made me a little happy in a very, very bad choice of female LI......what a mess that was.....two aliens and a jerk....I'd take Kelly anyday!

Shepard being allowed to only be lesbian besides heterosexuality gets the air of fan service. The Asari were fan-service (ME2 added depth to them), Kelly was fan-service (proven by lack of romance and only being there as an eye-candy). Kelly proves it.

The writing, the concept, the everything loses its quality if fan service becomes prevalent. Occasional fan service is fine. Fan service tends to be for only one part of the demographic. Fan service usually is cheap and just for bland entertainment.

I can't agree with your basic proposition.

Kelly's 'easter egg' material is exploitative and - as you keep using the term - 'fan service'.

But Kelly's character is not.

Ultimately this is a DA2 f/f romance thread, so if you want to continue this debate then we should do it elsewhere.

For now let's do as Yana suggests and get back on topic.

And a female who is only into females is less made to fit a role than a bisexual? I don't really see the connection but whatever :)

Anyway, I'd like a girl who is ridiculously sweet and open, who is smart and funny, cute and adorable, has a bit of a rock-chic vibe, enjoys the arts but not in any snobby manner. Has a strong inner resolve and will, but likes to avoid conflict. She'd likely be a rogue, taught to fight by her doting father.

Thing is that Bioware is doing the same thing in every game. It would at least be a surprise if you talk to a girl who is supposed to be a romance and suddenly she tells you 'Sorry I don't do guys.' - Bummer. I don't know I think it is a funny idea. If it is everytime the same thing it gets old, and you don't think about player characters but only categories. Dunno if you noticed but there is a difference between bisexuals and homosexuals, one of the main probably that bisexuals do have a choice.

Isn't game's main purpose entertainment?

How about a female Templar? Could make some interesting interaction between her and a Mage FemHawke

I like this idea! I take it from the trailer that every Hawke has the ability to use some form of magic? If so then this could create some serious tension... and sexual tension! ;)

Great, now I cannot reply to messages that take me out of context, BECAUSE it is too off-topic. Right when I got this computer virus as well.

A female warrior seems likely for a bisexual LI. There will no doubt be a male mage and perhaps they will not repeat the bi rogue theme.

Oh, well... I guess I'll have to wait for DA3 to get a horny female mage as LI then. :P

In theory, yes. In practice, I doubt it. Alistair was a former templar and even if you were a blood mage there was no tension at all.

I hope that in DA2 your class and specializations have a deeper role into the story. If you're a blood mage you should be treated as such. Then we can talk about sexual tension...

No more then any other medium for expression.

But you're right, games are mostly for escapist fantasies.

Which would be a shame.

Hopefully BioWare will include gay and lesbian love interest in the game. And hopefully it isn't something stupid like 'I'm not really a lesbian because she's not really a girl.'

Although futas are awesome and always appreciated.

I'll bet the farm there will be at least two bisexual characters. Beyond that, highly unlikely.
