I thought Iona would have made for a very interesting love interest for a male of female noble. Perfect for providing extended plot angles such as the scandal of a human noble actualy being in love with and caring for an Elven peasant from the Alienage, rescuing Iona from Howe's dungeon, making hard choices, etc, lots of story possibilities, and chances of consequences.



I could just see Loghaine using such knowledge against a noble;



Loghaine: "This woman would question my motives, while she would proclaim her love for an Elf woman from an Alianage? One can only wonder at her motives for attempting to frame Arl Howe or I as responsible for events there!"



Or at least something to that effect, plenty of different possibilities for such interactions with waht seems at first to be nothing more than a simple NPC of no special interest other than a little fluff before things go terribly wrong.

Ooh! I'd have loved that, Selene! To play out 'our love is more important to me than reputation' would have been genuinely emotive.



To walk around Denerim and have people sneer at you or even for Eamon and Teagan to treat you with a degree of disdain - perhaps even the inhabitants of the alienage to have poured scorn on the noble 'slumming it' with one of their own - would have been very powerful.

That's a fantastic idea indeed, that would've been a lot of fun! I always liked Iona, I would've definitely done that if the option had been available .

I hope we get the option to proposition threesomes with Isabela and other companions in DAII. /dirty thoughts

Didn't really enjoy Iona that much, It's not that I don't like her, it's just I don't like the Elven body shape, to slender, not curvy (true for most female characters) and short.

Also the shortness reminded me too much of the Christmas elves (like this http://www.makeandta.../elf_poster.jpg) I was expecting to see my warden wake up with a Santa hat on. "shiver"

I have a soft spot for Iona and that idea would've been awesome. I was heart broken that we couldn't at the very least help her daughter by giving her some money (though my HNF would've adopted her if possible).

She dies either way. While there is no official confirmation of her death if you don't sleep with her, her daughter is still alone in the Aleinage, saying "momma said she'd bring me something back from Highever", which means she hasn't returned. Why would that be?

Mine too, actually.  I remember thinking just the same thing as I tried to talk to her.  It's such a shame that they limited that.  You would think a HN who even talked to Iona would be able to recognize and help her daughter in some way, but no.

I like Iona as well, and on the one hand would love to see any noble I made get further involved with her... but even if she survived (which wouldn't be hard, assuming that the PC is a little quicker on the uptake), how can you keep anything going with her? I mean, you can drop her off at the Alienage and I'm sure she'd be eternally grateful, but I'm not sure why she'd risk her life even further traveling with you against the darkspawn.



If anyone does have a reason for this, please tell me; I'd love to do a story about this.

The Iona idea is only an example of how it is possible to include a NPC as a romantic interest for your PC and something to hope for in DA II (not Iona of course).



In Origins, Iona (or Dairen sp) is just a fling for your character and a plot device to create dramatic impact, whic serves its purpose very well.



I wouldn't see her, if she survived her wounds, as a companion, but rather a camp follower.



Scenario, off the top of my head, perhaps Duncan found her seriously wounded and unconsious (rather than dead) in your room while searching for you and your mother and managed to slip her out somehow with some elves fleeing the castle. She could then easily end up in such a place as Ostagar or Lothering amongst the many refugees where she could tell the tale of her escape. Her personal quest would be her return to her daughter in the Alienage.

Hmmm. I suppose that could work, depending on where Highever is in relation to Denerim... or if troubles started up in the Alienage prior to that. An interesting idea; I might do something with it.

In one instance, (WIKI) states that Highever is somewhere near Amaranthine, but the Alianage used is the one in Denerim (where Iona's Daughter can be found). I haven't gotten a very clear picture of that unless Highever Castle is very near Denerim and just to the north of it.

She's on the far end from where you first enter the Alienage, past where Ser Otto is standing, sitting on the ground under a rickety staircase to an upper story.
