Ah, but maybe you could do something about it! If he's just thereand you can't affect his life, I'd rather they left it alone, really, but it would be quite awesome if Hawke could be there for the bitter, exiled Alistair, the way the warden could have been there for Alistair before his exile..

I think it's weird for Hawke to be able to take up some random drunk claiming to be a prince's cause. I mean, listen to him, sure, and maybe give him money, like how Spacer Shep can give that one homeless veteran some money, but I don't think he should just move through and change his life. I honestly dislike how often that happens in games. That the PC knows exactly what to say to convince them to be a better person.
I mean...sure, it would be cool in a future game, when he's all old and wizened to be like some sort of awesome drunk mentor figure to the protagonist, but ain't gonna happen.

I noticed drunk Alistar in DA2 in the "The Hanged Man" Tavern after a cut scene with Isabela fighting some thugs. Alistar's trying to convince everyone he's the Prince of Ferelden. I talked to him before I spoke with Isabela and Isabela also became part of the conversation. I offered to help by asking if he was ok. But he said he's not ok and was a disgraced traitor. Isabela said something and Alistar said she sounds like Morrigan. After the conversation ends, if you keep prodding him to talk. He tells you "Just leave me alone", says he's sorry to Duncan, he also goes on and on about the stoopid grey wardens and they're stoopid rituals, he also blames Morrigan, he also says "it should of been me and not Loghain".
