I am not saying that they are evil, but they are definitely not good either....

Bravo! Its very good to see people who understand the Dangers of pure Freedom. Criminals & Anarchists wanted it from 19th Century till now for their mean Activities (I'm not talking about USA Presidents) ...
Without Security there will be nothing but Chaos and Disorder.

I was simply quoting Gaider out of memory. Maybe he said that Benjamin Franklin said it and I didn't remember it right... I am sorry for that.
But I agree, what is needed is balance. You can only try to establish new liberties when you have the basis of security.

Actually, They are Ignorant. but it seems people here consider Necromancers and Demons as Good!
I'm very sorry for people of the World but they need a universal Ethic Lesson in their Studies [and I don't want to talk about this right now, Its just the Necessity that does matter]

I have? I can do that ... well then from now on no means yes and yes means no.

You do know I was being sarcastic? Have you read the rest of the thread? ... on second thoughts don't. 'Tis a little crazy.:?

balance is the way to go on this matter, difficult though it might be.

someone said it best:

"it's a pain in the ass...but well worth it":P

In my opinion they just do what they think is right, as an order, but the people inside it can have different opinions and that would be interesting to explore.
And about the demons and necromancers...Maybe people just always love the underdog?

I think the Templars in the DA:O are created using the Knight Templars (in the real world) as the base.

The Benjamin Franklin quote doesn't refer to just living a safe life. It's the idea that you give up your essential liberty and make of yourself a slave in order to avoid risk.

Which is a detestable notion any way you look at it.

Its not freedom vs. security.

Its your essential liberty, the ability to have that choice at all.

He looks badass!

But yes, it seems that the templars are based loosely on the Knight orders of the Middle Ages, though there are many differences, for example the Knight Templars were pretty much sovereign, while the Templars of Thedas have to follow the Chantry rules and are supervised by the Seekers. There are many more, but I disgress.

Thing is, with the new approval system you won't have to like or always agree with a templar companion, if you don't like them at all, but you could have some sort of rivalry with them. I would like to see that.

So judging by the new trailer, the new tempalrs look awesome, much more menacing than in Origins, maybe because they lost the huuuge shoulder pads?

I just hope this doesn't mean that there are less funny templars around...

Indeed! And I very much hope that not only can we have a templar companion, but learn the skills ourselves.

Me too, the templar skills in DA:O were very practical, so I think my warrior will be a templar again in DA2.

Most templars in DA:O weren't "funny," even if they were nice.

Maybe it's referring to Alistair?

Breaking Cullen's brain was pretty funny in a cruel, disturbing, uncomfortable laughter sort of way.  Or I'm just a bad person.  Probably the latter.

Heh.

Well, there was Bran in the mage origin, who had a very dry sense of humor.  And I could kind of see it in Hadley too, although I think of him as more "straight man" material (the guy who gets teased, not the kind doing the teasing).  Other than that, (if you don't count Alistair), I honestly can't think of any templars I would describe as "funny."
