I don't know if that question is really a spoiler but it might be for some.   I was just wondering if you really have to scrimp and save your monies or if at some point you just start finding amazingly valuable objects to sell.  I'm only level 10 and just completed the Broken Cricle quest line but I still only have about 2 gold.. I really haven't bought anything that valuable either... potion recipies and ingredients and such.

60 something, bought books and gifts mostly. You don't need much money to equip your characters. Only your warriors really need good gears, rogues need good weapons, mages can go without(played on nightmare so if its not needed on nightmare I doubt it is on any difficulty). Mage staffs are generally the only items really worth investing in if you compare buyable vs lootable.

I haven't played the game to the end on any of my characters yet, but I don't really see any problems with money? Just loot everything you kill (sometimes it takes a bit for corpses to become lootable), and pick all locks you encounter. Use tab to find things you can loot (and for codex experience and optional quest parts). Buy backpacks when you can afford them so you can carry more loot. I'm not sure about insanely valuable objects, but there are some quests (some of them short) that give way more than 2 gold that you can do fairly early in the game...

I've seen several complaints about lack of gold in the game. Are you perchance rushing through the fights and not paying much attention to the environment?

I had about 170 when I finished. Can't check how much I spent overall at the moment, though.

I think most complaints are about the amount of gold vs all the expensive items. A lot of items are worth over 100 gold a piece and even if you loot every chests and enemies in the game you probably won't be able to buy even half of them.

yea i spend a good 400 end game... just for my rose thorn dagger ... and other supplies for the group... you stack quite a bit during the game b/c your playing conservatively... well i do... but yea nearing the end you just buy everything ... well i did

Many are the best items in the game actually.

Yeah.. I'm totally going on found items so far except for recipe stuffs.. Recipes are pretty pricey also. At the beginning I thought I would be able to make money off of selling traps and stuff.. but there's really not enough ingredients to be found so far to make much.. and buying ingredients and crafting items doesn't seem to net you any seemingly profit so far. 1 trap trigger costs 3 silver but you make a spring trap and it only sells for 1 silver 48.. Basically the most valuable things to me that are at merchants are the tomes..

I had more than 300 when I finished. I had the same question as you when I was early-mid game, but towards the end money didn't matter at all.

About that level (10) I was at 2 gold too. But when I hit Denerim the quests rewards seemed to get alot better. I was getting a couple gold for complete quests.

I'm around 44gold right now. I'm level 12 or 13 right now. I still haven't bought that thing in camp that gives you a skill, I've bought the bezerker manual, however.

I see a lot of cool stuff, but have refrained from buying it. If things really start getting hard, I'll invest more in gear. Buying gear in the early game hurt me. And buying that crossbow was real stupid of me.

I had no money at the end. I donated it all to the mercs before the final battle.

Right now, I have about 44g. I'm about 1/3 of the way through the game at this point. I haven't bought much except recipes and ingredients, especially lyrium. I'm just now starting to pick up some of the more lucrative quests, so I'm hoping my gold will start increasing faster.
