i wanted to make a vfx that contains an image too (like a glyph on the ground that appears before unleashing the magic). is it possible to import an image in the VFX editor in order to create the effect?

sure, near enough. If you havent got them already, the DA VFXProj files can be obtained here, and you can take a look at how Bioware did the glyphs.

so we can see on which format those are and eventually how to add new ones?

All images are in DDS format. Look in texturepack.erf for the vanilla ones. Most are prefixed fx_/fxa_/fxc_. The spell glyphs you mentioned are essentially just a 512x512 alpha mask.

is the size compulsory? only 512x512 or less?

Nothing is compulsory, but obviously 2048x2048 images are going to require substantially more overhead than 256x256 ones. Use what is appropriate to get the job done. Most VFX are relatively small, so they really don't require massive images. Look at the vanilla files for an indication of what size to use.
