In multiplayer login I am recieving the message "Authorizing server down. Skipping auth. Could not connect to Master Server. Some multiplayer services may not be availible."
I was trolling the older forums from last month with three or four posts on the exact same issue and there were some offers of it being the wrong port, but I am within the listed ports and no other computer on my network is playing other than me.
Firewall enabled with full access or turned off...it gives me the same message, so it doesn't have anything to do with security. Is it something to do with the router and poss router firewalling? My account is fine too as my friend was able to login with it, and Im getting the same issue when I try and use his login on this computer.
Im going to try putting it on my laptop and bupassing the router, so Ill report back, but for the meantime I tought I'd see if anyone has suggestions?

The client does not need to set up port forwarding, only the host.I will start up my Tech Server so you can test connections and post back the info here so you will know what to look for so you can test from your end...
Look for Selene's Test Server hosting the module 0100_UninvitedGuests under the Tech Support group.

Oo-er, this thread might help with a problem a friend of mine is having. He's on a wireless network at home & often gets the message above when trying to connect to Individual Neverwinter games that I've set up on the 'net, or any other Neverwinter server for that matter.
Unfortunately, unlike dethia above, whatever server he chooses, he gets a timeout message & can't connect. I took my 'puter over to his house yesterday & tried to connect it via his wireless network to a number of Neverwinter servers, but I got timeouts too on all of them.
Since I only got that message when trying to play via his network, I'm presuming that means the problem is with his router, not his computer - does that sound right? And any ideas what might be stopping him connecting?
We've opened all the ports recommended on the portforward site, although I appreciate that that's only needed for hosting a game, not joining one, and we've tried anything we've seen on many forums, with no success.
Please help, as I have a module in alpha that I want to playtest with him, and at the moment, we're stuck playing DDO on our regular tuesday night sessions - which no sane person should ever have to do! Unfortunately its the only game that works for us :-)

Clyordes,
In this case, it may be the router or may be the Internet Service Provider. Somtimes, simply re-starting the router clears things up when it is a router issue.

btw, the problems seemed to start when he got a new router last month - a Netgear DGN 2000 (I think it is) http://www.netgear.co.uk/dgn2000.php , after upgrading from a Netgear DGN834G, in case that helps. Unfortunately, he hasn't got the old one any more, so can't swap it back to see what happens.

He may need to open some ports up on the router
Simplest is:
Port Name - Range - Protocol - Computer IP Address
NWN2A 5120 to 5129 TCPUDP 192.168.1.12
NWN2B 6667 to 6667 TCPUDP 192.168.1.12
See this topic for Port Forwarding details
However, this may be all your friend may need do: make sure the Windows Firewall or other software firewall allows for NWN 2 as an exception. Those settings are in Windows Security Center or other firewall configuration tool.

Your firend can test against Selene Tech Server, which I currently have online and is hosting the 0100_UninvitedGuests module.

Many thanks Selene, sorry I couldn't get him to check this last night (UK time), I was at work, and unfortunately didn't know you'd replied.
I've passed this thread onto him though, in case there are any ports he's not opened from your list above. I'm pretty certain he's rebooted his router several times, and he uses McAfee security - we checked at the weekend & NWN2 has full access.
I'm interested about what you said about his ISP being a problem - he changed from Sky to Orange & the problems started on the change - unfortunately, he changed his router at the same time, so its hard to know for sure what the problem is, although we seem to have ruled out computer settings, as I couldn't join when my 'puter was connected to his wireless network.
Am I right in thinking that the McAfee software firewall on his computer wouldn't affect my computer's access to the internet via his wireless router? I don't know much about how networks & internet gateways work, but it feels like access should only be affected by my computer's settings & the router's set up.
We're due to be back online Tuesday evening (8pm UK time) - any chance you could get your server online then to see if either of us can connect? - Pretty please?

McAfee does have issues, and software firewalls aren't the best thing one can use, better to firewall the router than the computer.
Some ISP's may block other ISP's. In the past, some have been blocked for competitive reasons or lack of contractual agreements or whatever. Some Colleges have been known block various gaming ports as well. It's worth checking in with the ISP.
I am bringing up my server as requested, though I may be a bit late since I just now saw your post.

Thanks Selene, I'll definitely pass that info on. Also apologies - we couldn't try connecting to your server on Tuesday night - sorry to mess you about.
