After installing Patch 1.04 the game wont work anymore.
I could play saved games - but not start a new one - or any DLC / Awakening.
It crashes immediately.
So I changed back with a lot of loss to 1.03.
Now I see I can't play the Golem DLC (( after buying it ... )) - cause it needs 1.04 ...
and I can't install 1.04 for whatever reasons.

This is pretty annoying -  that is my money - simple wasted

Have you installed any third-party mod(s) that could cause this issue? If this is the case, try to disable/uninstall them.

I'm having the same problem. Downloaded the patch for the DLC just purchased but now I am receiving an error message Cannot find Dragon Age disk but I bought the digital copy so I have no disk... I did download mods so maybe thats my problem... I emailed Technical Support and waiting to hear back.

So - what are exactly *third-party* mods ? Also I am designing - so for sure I have mods.
But I disabled all to look if I can start the game after - same result - Crash

Its a shame that a patch works as *game down* Patch instead of improving the fun to play.

I was all excited about the  Morrigan DLC and wanted to play the Golem's before ... :crying: S.H.I.T

3rd party mods are any DLC that was made by a person, user, or any company other than BIOWARE.
Sometimes these type of Modifications require other DLCs to be present or the lack of certain DLCs
to be installed. too many conflicting DLC code mucks up the data or bin files and crash DAO if not removed in
a certain sequence.

1.04- works OK for me except My first attempt of downloading GoA failed and when I started the download again
it stays at 0. I know there is a complicated fix, but I wish there was as fix for the whole wonky DLC installer. I even downloaded the file manually and couldn't install it alls well, but GoA. One day I will fix it.

Well you are right - but if the game works with ALL Mod's under 1.03 ???

So clearly - for me - the new Patch causes the problem :|

It's up to the mod to be compatible with 1.04 and not the contrary. Not all third-party mods are compatible with 1.04. You should consult the description of these mods for any information on compatibility.

Did you also uninstall the mod(s) present in My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\packages\\core\\override? This kind of mods cannot be disabled from Downloadable Content panel.

Nope - I did not. I just had a look to some of the mods - there are older ones with textures and stuff - but I need them for the Toolset - <.<

What a damn catch-22

I feel your frustration LadyAly, Jack M is right there are two basic "storehouses" if you will... containing your data in vista or seven. The one where you installed the game and a set of DLC content, Player profiles, characters and Promo offers and authorized content under your desktop preset file Specifically--------Username->My Documents--->Bioware--> Dragon Age--> In this folder( AddIns, Characters, Logs, modules, News, Offers, Packages, Screenshots, Settings, Temp, Toolset.)

It is hard to figure out what went wrong where when modding. I actually have everything working except GoA on Patch 1.04.

I like you am worried about Morrigans Witch Hunt Finale DLC having the problems GoA gave me??

Do you use DAUpdater by BIOWARE or do you use DAModder or DAO ModdManager? alot of good info on thier sites and users of those programs may help. I have been browsing thier for a solution to my GoA issue.

I wish you the best of luck. The whole DLC update and patch thing should be more stable. This GoA is the first time I had an issue, but when you are paying extra for this stuff you shouldn't have to worry with your fingers crossed.

Yes @Xarahaze - exactly my thought. I have no idea how to solve the problem. Maybe I risk another DL from the Patch
Saving all relevant dates before on a Stick -
Last time I lost a lot of .mrh files + ALL mods. It was frustrating and cumbersome to find some mod's again *lol*
I can well live without this.

I'd recommend backing up your saves and screenshots, then uninstall the game, reinstall in this order:

DAO

DA Awakening

All DLCS

add patch 1.04

and then, use your disk defragmenter tool.

If some DLCs don't install, download them manually, then clear the download cache of the game (DA launcher/configure/repair) and install them with the DA updater exe.

I use DAO, DA, all the DLCs and third parties mods, and the only crash I ever had was when playing darkspawn chronicle certainly due to a memory leak (too many details and characters)

Good luck.

I routinely crash during big fights, despite having a computer that far exceeds the requirements of the game.

Just crashed with the archdemon around 20%...

Not happy.

For all you people who have constant crashes, add a -dx9 in your DA shortcut in the target field after the path.

So it looks like this "C:/program files/bioware/blablablabla/DA.exe" -dx9

use the shortcut to start the game.

Also if you're running a Quad core CPU or higher, try setting the application's affinity to less proccessors, 1-2-3 depending on how stable it is. You can do that from the task manager by right clicking the game while it runs (procesess tab).
