So in the "your canon shep" thread on the classes forum, I noticed 2 different people said they told the council to shove it, when they offered to reinstate them as a spectre, which got me thinking. I have always wanted to tell them to shove it, but decided to accept the reinstatement(neutral option) so that maybe, just maybe they'll pull their heads out of their butt puckers, to quote Gardener, (always loved that line) and support my Shep in the fight against the reapers in ME3. Telling them to shove it would probably reinforce their belief that Shep is completely crazy, and not actually fighting to stop the reapers. Which may sound ok in theory, but come ME3, the council could very well supporting you whether you told 'em to shove it or not. Or maybe they will, yet again, not believe you, despite all the evidence you provide. No one knows, except Bioware, how it'll playout at this time. But when it came down to it, what did you do?

I told them to shove it up their ass. My shep didn't need them then and I didn't need them now.

I took the title. I don't expect any help from the Council now or in the future, but being a Spectre gives me legal authority to act as I see fit, instead of being subject to arrest for gunning down mercs...

My only regret is that I am not allowed the option to say "I'm a Spectre, start talking" when playing as a Paragon. It's true; I should be able to use that tactic regardless of my alignment.

My main Paragon Shepard accepted it, but I never chose the "I'm honored." option with any of them.

A license to kill is a handy thing. My Shep accepted the status, in large part, for Anderson's sake.

My canon Shepard thought it was a pretty easy decision to accept reinstatement, no matter how annoyed he was.

The ablilty to legally kill people should not be foresaken in Shepard's line of work.

All my Shepard's did, refusing it seemed rather pointless

The name of Shepard now carries more weight than the title of Spectre; it's a relic I don't need.

I accepted it, one less "enemy" to deal with, before the Reapers come
and, after playing through to the end, I'm curious to see if it has any value, in ME3

I took it. Not taking it would have put me in a rather bad position with the council.

You can use that line when you are not a Spectre so it being true doesn't seem to matter. Speaking of which is there anything in ME2 that being a Spectre effects?

From the top of my head:
-You can Charm the Citadel Souvenirs lady without offering an endorsement
-One slightly different line during the Paragon interrupt in the Crime in Progress assignment

There probably will be something different with the new asari Spectre, Tela Vasir, in the upcoming DLC as well.

I accepted spectre status. It may come in handy later on in Mass Effect 3.

That's not very polite at all. :P

Yeah I took it, begrudgingly, might be useful. It's better to have it and not need it, like the genophage cure. It's "over there" somewhere.

I took it begrudgingly (kinda wished I could've made some kind of snippy comment at them like "The more things change, the more they stay the same"). Hey, no need to burn bridges, and who knows, maybe the Council will *snicker* get their heads out of their asses and *snerk* actually help in ME3 *guffaw* instead of constantly second-guessing me, possibly even *can no longer hold it in and breaks down laughing hysterically*

Why would you possibly burn such a potentially important bridge?

simple they are utterly stupid and their old and out of date title means nothing and Shepard does not their permission to do anything he or she does what ever it takes anyway to stop the collectors in ME 2. Oh and plus My 2 Shepards are Cerberus Soldiers so what ever the council says has no real meaning to me

Enemies should be like books and friends; Few and well-chosen. Don't make any more enemies than you have to.
