Decision on whether or not to accept reinstatement of spectre status, what did you choose?

Also I don't hate the council itself, thought the turian does make me want to do Renegade Interrupt on him. They have be aware of and deal with more then just what is concerning Sheppard. A few colonies are disappearing from near the terminus systems? Did you humans not learn from Eden prime. We didn't risk going into the systems over that and we sure aren’t going to risk it now over a few human colonies because you couldn't defend them.
Regarding the Reaper threat is slightly different, they should be more incline to believe you. I also understand why they try not to.

The opportunity to make a statement.
Refusing far reaching legal authority just so you can boost your own ego is reckless and utterly unprofessional when you're striving to counter a threat like the reapers. You're hampering your own ability to combat them by alienating a potential ally and reducing your own power.
For my part i always respond with the "i'm honoured" option because, to be honest, i am. Like it or not the council are the legitimate representatives of the untold billions (Trillions?) you're trying to save. They have elevated you to the position of SPECTRE, a titile which recognises you as one of the supreme defenders of citadel space. They have trusted Shepard with the authority to essentially do whatever he wills with the tacit support of the council, that trust is something they cling to even when it becomes all to apparent that you're working with a terrorist organisation that would hapily see them all reduced to a status of servitude.
They may have trouble recognising the reaper threat, lord knows that's understandable given what evidence they actually have, but they're willing to bet once more on Shepard even when his/her stated goal is to work with a terrorist cell outside of council space.
My Shep is a war hero, the burden of duty weighs heavy on him. Despite the competence or politics the council remains the supreme representative body in the galaxy and to serve the people it represents will always be the highest duty and an undeniable honour.

I can think of several forests in my province (Canadian) where I'd be shocked to find a bear, others not so much. The point is the same, you've only got my word on whether or not the particular area you are in has bears. However I'll alter it to make my point clearer:Marzillius wrote...
That doesn't make any sense. Everyone knows that there are bears in the forest (well... depending on which country you are in...), bears are not mysterious monsters that only one person knows about. The Reapers however, are.DPSSOC wrote...
And that's an acceptable stance until one of said starships attacks Britain and leaves pieces of itself strewn over the House of Commons.Marzillius wrote...
I really don't get why so many people don't like the Council. If you went to the British Parliament and started talking about massive starships that want to harvest the galaxy, without any concrete evidence, do you think they would believe you?
If you're in the woods and don't believe me when I tell you there are bears around you're a skeptic. If you don't believe me after a bear mauls you and nearly kills all your friends, claiming it was just a very large raccoon, you're a moron deserving of contempt.
Now personally I hate the Council because I view them as a pack of tyrants and the only tyrant I can bring myself to like is myself. Still save the Council, accept the status, save the galaxy, kill LCM later.
I honestly can't think of any reason to reject Spectre status other than using it as a way to flip off the Council.
If you're in the woods and don't believe me when I tell you there are dragons around you're a skeptic. If you don't believe me after a dragon sets you on fire and nearly eats all your friends, claiming it was just a very large toad, you're a moron deserving of contempt.
The Council aren't the domineering, gun to the back of your head, worship the leader tyrants we're used to but tyranny wears many masks. The Council demands military might to qualify for membership and then forces all non-Council races to agree to a treaty designed to cripple their military might. The Council forces humans to settle in dangerous regions (Attican Traverse, Skyllian Verge both bordering on the Terminus Systems if I'm not mistaken) and then refuse to offer assistance when those settlements are attacked. I could go on but the point is from my perspective everything the Council does seems geared toward keeping the other races down and propping their own up and that, to me, is tyranny.Marzillius wrote...
And by the way, how are the Council tyrants? I haven't seen them committing genocide or oppressing the population. They are anything but tyrants.

I may not like it but I take it.
Refusing pretty much a do whatever you want/get out of jail free card is silly.
Also who is to say that the council dosent believe you about the Reapers? Politicans are masters at saying NOTHING, whilst saying things. They are most likely doing things behind your back, and not letting things out in the open.
If however they are that stupid then I will really feel bad about telling Timmy to kiss my shiny resurected ass.

I thought it was pretty cool, even though I had no choice about it.
As it is, however, the Spectre status is strictly ceremonial. The condition of it, after all, is to stay away from Citadel space: that means away from any doors the Council Authority can unlock. You aren't allowed to go to Noveria. It doesn't mean anything to Illium. It doesn't protect you from the laws of anywhere in the Terminus. And, at the end of the day, it doesn't protect you from the Council either: they can always revoke it and charge you with whatever they wish and whatever you did just like Saren, if you make a choice they can't stand. (And, of course, if you don't make that choice, Spectre status doesn't matter again.)
