Black Metal, all styles but mainly both the true 2nd wave blackmetal and ambient/depressive blackmetal (Mayhem, Darkthrone, Burzum and Darkspace, Coldworld, ANTI...)
Extreme metal mostly that is. Though most people wont ever get it as it is not usually something to "chill out" with. Black Metal in particular I find very inwards turning and self-examining, which I like. Though I also listen to classical and ambient too and occasionally Hard Trance.
Wonder how many of you metalheads know the epicness of Summoning...
Summoning is badass!!!! \\m/ Even though they really stretch the boundaries of metal, their music is still awesome! Long Lost Where No Pathway Goes is one of my fav songs ever.

If you want experimental stuff, try Deathspell Omega.

I know them. Not a fan, but they are not bad at all. When it comes to blackmetal experimentation, Darkspace is what floats my boat.
I like most genres of music except Country and rap/hiphop post 1990's.
However, I am very much a metal head. And I like the screaming vocalists that sound like crap, thank you very much. And all the ones that don’t as well. Death Metal does not make you "empty minded."
Power metal. I'm also fond of some other kinds of metal, but I'm somewhat more pickier about them. I also like classic rock.
Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Dio, Judas Priest, Megadeth, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Hawkwind and the Dead Kennedys probably are pretty representative of my favourite kinds of music (a list of everything I like would get a bit long). The last couple aren't the sort of thing I listen to all the time, but I very much enjoy them now and again.
Hmmm... Those of you who said video game music... Do a quick youtube search for Anamanaguchi... It's like four dudes rocking out to an old cracked NES.
