Excuse my ignorance, do they have public betas for single player games? (Also in case op thinks this is online, it's not.)
Rarely, but it happens every once in a while...

I don't believe I've ever seen one, no.

Halo 3, for one, had a half-public beta, and there were others, but it's still fairly rare.

The Halo 3 beta was indeed for the multiplayer.

Yes, and I admit I don't know if it was perhaps an MP only beta (Didn't participate, never been a big fan of Halo either), but another example is Mount&Blade (SP only game), which was more or less a perpetual public beta for some years, and I think there were a few public betas launched via Steam, though I don't know if that included any single player games.LdyShayna wrote...

I remember signing up for a beta every once in a while (But NATURALLY I only got into the two MMO betas I ever signed up for

Hmm Mount and Blade is by a smaller company I think? That might explain why you could beta it, which is cool to think small companies could do this while get the word out about their game.
Mount & Blade was made by a tiny team of about 5 people I think, and they sold beta builds for a fraction of the price of what the full game would cost, while providing the updates for free to the beta users. I got Mount & Blade for 20 dollars, because I bought it way back at build .701, and I now have the full version. Good deal for both the developer and the consumer. They used the beta sales to fund creating the game until finally they finished and mass produced, and they ended up making a ton of money.
Mount & Blade 2 is well underworks and has been confirmed to have competitive multiplayer (16 players last I heard? I think I heard theres actually a closed beta going on now for the multiplayer)
