Yes, I have used that thing called the search function, looked through a couple of threads and found nothing that would help me. Like half of the people who bought the game, I'm expieriencing the random crash/freeze (every 5 or so minutes). I'd like to know if anyone'd be so kind as to show me the way to fix this problem. I have a quad core processor 2.66, a 512 MB (Radeon, forgot which series) video card, all my drivers are up-to-date, I'm running Win7 (have tried running in compatibility mode XP, and as admin), 4 GB of RAM  - basically my rig exceeds the recommended requirements. I also have the game patched up to v1.02.

Thank you, in advance.

The amount of VRAM attached to a video card is the least important thing to know about it. Its age, as long as it's under three years old, is not hugely material .**  Core speed, RAM speed, memory bandwidth, and shader unit count are all more important, so you need to find out more about it before claiming to meet the requirements.

The above article will tell you how to collect the specifics on your hardware, and Chris' description of the report form to follow (quoted him in my message that is now a Forum Sticky on top), go together.

Video Card:
NVIDIA GeForce 6 series (6800GT or better: 210, 7100, 7200, 7300, 7400, 7500, 7600 GS, 8200, 8300, 8400 GS, 8500, 9200, & 9300 are below minimum system requirements)
ATI Radeon X1650 XT (X1300, X1300 Pro, X1550, HD 2400, HD 3200, HD 3450, HD 3470, HD 4200, HD 4350, HD 4550, and HD 5450 are below minimum system requirements)

** Note: As long as PC makers continue offering very cheap, cut-down PC solutions, the chronological AGE of personal computers is not particularly relevant.  The reason that Gmes have System Requirements labels is because of the differences in the QUALITY of the many system configurations.

What you're saying is my post wasn't detailed enough? Then you pointed me to the DA:O tech support, where I found a small novel of the Hardware Basics for Gaming, instead of explaining to me a more... practical solution? Do you just want me to post my specs in the form of a poem?

I think that the fact that Mass Effect for the PC came out in May of 2008, and the fact that I bought my computer in March of 2009 is enough for me to at least claim it meets the requirements. Here is a more "detailed" description of my PC:

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Procesor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9400 @2.66Ghz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz

RAM: 4096 MB RAM

DirectX version: DirectX 11

Video card: Ati Radeon HD 4800 Series

This reply is a little late...but to be honest it's likely not your hardware but the game itself. I get random freezes,lockup,reboots..etc on both ME1 and ME2 on 2 different systems and both FAR exceed the maxium requirments to run the game. There's alot of bugs and memory leaks in these games and I've had many KernalMode_NotHandeled errors in my crash dump logs.
