This is one hell of a long episode, and they talk about the toolset a lot towards the end  One particular thing they mention is that they are trying to give the toolset plugin support (2 hours and 20 minutes in)! There's lots of other nice tidbits in there, but overall, a very interesting interview.

It's actually over 3 hours. 2 hours and 20 minutes in is where they talk about the plugins.

That was a very interesting discussion and the toolset section was especially great - plugins, asset releases, bugfixes. It's heartening to learn that the Toolset still figures in the list of priorities for Bioware.

yeah i was very excited to hear these things for the toolset!

As far as plugins, I'd like a model viewer, 2da editor and script searcher... I think these things would be great. I also mentioned in the interview a noob-interface, but that might take quite a bit of work.

Anyone else have any thoughts for plugins?

what about voice-record-plugin for VO testings via microphone (in the right format :) ) for testing purposes

Woot!!! Awakening and some DLC assets could be released. That was worth listening to.

Not sure if that would count as a plugin, but I'd love to see a fix that makes the camera in the level editor to work exactly as the area editor camera.

Definitely some very exciting things in the interview, and I for one think that the podcast team are awesome for asking so many good questions. Hooray for DAO modding!

only what was said in the interview. I forget the exact wording used, but the implication was "near future"... i guess 1-3 months maybe?

Mike, have you taken a look at this? DA Tool Chest
Unfortunately, it has some issues on Windows 7 but works fine on XP, if you have a computer with it.

I had plans to make a stand-alone conversation editor as part of my XAML/C# self-learning programme. This news is interesting enough to go back to that.

Something I'd like from a toolset plugin (if it was possible) would be to add proper dummy/null objects to the level editor as an alternative to groups. The problem with the current group object is that their co-ords change depending on the co-ords of their children, which is seriously painful when you start making multiple duplicates of large non-symmetrical groups that need to be rotated and moved around a lot. I want a parent object that retains a fixed set of positional co-ords that I give it. This would make precise positioning of groups much less painful.
