That art is cool but all I can think of when I look at it is "she must be cold". *hates being cold*

Well on that issue it's not so much about that but - granted this is in real life not videogames - soldiers tended to cut their hair (and facial hair) short so that if they lost their helmet, or didn't have one, the enemy couldn't simply grab hold of their hair because it would put them at a disadvantage.
A long ponytail swinging around can be a liability if someone grabs it and yanks hard.

Thats true, but a tight bun is acceptable to the military, right? Because it's very close to the scalp and can't be grabbed easily. Also, I'd rather someone with a sword grabbed my hair than swinging at me with said weapon. I might have a bald patch after, but atleast I'd be alive

As a woman whose had both short hair and long hair, I actually think long hair works better in exercise situations.

This is not a personal attack, but a ponytail can be secured under, your "kevlar" helmet...
thus providing a snuggler fit. Hence, providing a variety of
hairtyles, from bold to long stresses is the key here.

The post above specfically mentions if they lose their helmet. Now, take this to apply to DA, especially, when helmets are buckets for your head.

Nowadays sure. Back when hand to hand combat was the norm - and women being involved was extremely rare though not absolutely unheard of - haircuts would be closer to vanilla Commander Shepard than LadyHawke. It probably wasn't some enforced dress regulation that led to it either, just practically not wanting to get your throat slit because someone grabbed your flowing locks from behind.
Anyway, I wasn't alive back then, so I'm just speculating.Lilacs wrote...

Not that I was talkin' about modern times.
And yeah, it is just a game. I'm going to give my female toons long hair. Heck even my male Warden had fairly long hair. It's not a particular concern of mine, really. Just rambling.

I've noticed some women have trouble finding a kevlar that fits comfortably because of the bun.
Thought I'm not sure how big a problem that would be though in Ye Old Times when armor wasn't manufactured.

You don't have to move in a certain direction simply because someone grabs your hair. You can resist until the hair breaks and leaves you with aforementioned bald patch. Regardless, I would see a bun working much better than a long pony tail.
