The Army's current gen kevlar has is much more adjustable for this. Personally, I hate them. I like the ones a few years ago where I could rest the edge of it on my rifle and shoot perfectly. Now I have to worry about "muscle memory" and good posture.

I doubt this practice applies to LadyHawke however.

You like brain buckets (K-pot) over the ACH? :D   /sorry for diverting the thread

Sorry if I like having two more inches of my face covered in combat. Also, mine fit perfectly before they took it away from me. I was a sad panda that day. ACU is also the ugliest pattern ever. EVER.

Is that the pixelly stuff or did they change it again? *is obviously a civilian*

Yeah, the pixelly stuff. It make pale-skinned people like me look like ghost-commandos. And it's not nearly as cool as that sounds. I'm a much bigger fan of multi-camo.

Now to attempt to bring this back on topic, I wonder what LadyHawke is wearing...I hope it's not ACUs.

I dunno but if where it leads to everyone getting naked oiling themselves up and 'wrestling' I'm all for it.

You don't have to move in a certain direction simply because someone grabs your hair. You can resist until the hair breaks and leaves you with aforementioned bald patch. Regardless, I would see a bun working much better than a long pony tail.

You will. Where you're head is suddenly jerked or pulled the rest of your body is likely to follow. You'd have to see it coming and brace yourself. If your enemy has you off guard and just yanks you this way, you're torso is going to follow and so are your legs.

The bun would work but I'd be curious to see if it might interfere with the helmet somehow.

Not to mention if someone grabs all the hair on your head at once like in a ponytail, it's not going to come off unless it damn near takes your scalp with it.

I'm guessing that by the time someone who's that close to you in combat resorts to pulling your hair, it's a last ditch effort because they've lost (both) their weapon(s). Bring on the long hairstyles Bioware!!

Of course. My uncle from Florida won't step outside in gorgeous and rare forty degree weather towards the end of winter, despite having grown up here. Not sure about "surviving", but he hates the cold.

Besides that, Yuki's still right. People who do grow up in the cold wear things to protect their body and cover them up. Not wear impractical armor and in even more impractical situations. There's no reason for her to dress like that, and I certainly wouldn't want that look to be Hawke's.

People used to living in a certain environment are more comfortable in it because they've adapted to tolerate it. That doesn't mean they can wear tiny clothes and deal with it better, it means they've learned how to skin farking animals and wear layers of it for warmth.

So your point that people used to living in cold areas are more tolerant of it than those from warm areas is correct.  But the way you applied that logic to said Tundra-dwellers then being able to wear skin-showing, thin clothing couldn't make less sense.

Oh, and common sense has nothing to do with science.

How did this thread divert to hair pulling?

At least it hasn't diverted to breast pulling.

Great. Give them ideas. Go ahead. <_<

I'd argue a boobs discussion is bound to happen anyhow

Well, warrior LadyHawke is definitely active and muscular.  One could make an assumption that this would reduce her breastiness.  You can argue with Mage!Hawke and Rogue!Hawke, since Mages spend more of their time studying how to make people explode with their brains.  Rogues can go either way, really.

I'm suddenly reminded of an Oglaf comic.  "Other than that, it really is good armor."

Hm, I think it will re-divert itself to what we want our femme Hawke to look like and the availabity of differing hairstyles and accessories, to a personality that ranges from gritty to quintessence compassion.

The statement does not count as common sense.  We are all humans.  None of us have anti-freeze for blood.  maybe someone who ahs lived in the arctic would know tricks for survival, but they don't ahve "natural immunity to cold".  Prove your statement with biological or anthopological papers, not images of super heros.  Kind of defeats your point :P

Nor was it ever implied in any of my posts. All that you quoted me was taken out of context.

The context being...hanging around naked at the Arctic parties? Wearing useless and ridiculous armor conventions?

The actual context is that the person in the picture is a 9 foot tall shapeshifting non-human. Making her completely useless as an example in discussing practical details concerning human females from another setting.

All the more reason to break the mold. That flaky comb-over style has got to go.

Well on that issue it's not so much about that but - granted this is in real life not videogames - soldiers tended to cut their hair (and facial hair) short so that if they lost their helmet, or didn't have one, the enemy couldn't simply grab hold of their hair because it would put them at a disadvantage.

A long ponytail swinging around can be a liability if someone grabs it and yanks hard.

Thats true, but a tight bun is acceptable to the military, right? Because it's very close to the scalp and can't be grabbed easily. Also, I'd rather someone with a sword grabbed my hair than swinging at me with said weapon. I might have a bald patch after, but atleast I'd be alive  ;)

I've noticed some women have trouble finding a kevlar that fits comfortably because of the bun

Thought I'm not sure how big a problem that would be though in Ye Old Times when armor wasn't manufactured.

Fight like a "Spartan?"  Also,  the original artwork... the trailer (the archetypes truly display "Greco-ones, and or Mediterranean women  (Men)."  However, this is besides the point.  Please,  our focus here is ith "our femme Hawke."    So, do stay topic.
