I'm not sure if this was already discussed. If so, I apologize.

I wonder what's your estimation of how old your companions are.

Mine as follows (approx.), and I do not impose my view on anybody:


Alistair - 18-20 (by the looks, and 10 by the way he acts  )

Morrigan - 27-33

Leliana - 22-25, however it was recently pointed out to me that she mentioned in some conversation that she looked younger, so maybe 27-28 but I cannot picture her any older than that with those ideas of hers... 

Sten - (if we assume in human years) 23-40 - can't really figure him out. Maybe he looks seasoned, maybe all qunari look like him since adolescence 

Zevran - (human years assumption) 29-34 - he has wrinkles and he boasts of being one of the best assassins in Antiva - it takes time.

Wynne - 65-72 - she looks young but let's not forget about magic. And she tells in a conversation that she is not a spring chicken 

Oghren - (in human years) 42-52 - was my first assumption but then I remembered his drinking hobby and lowered my estimation to 34-42

I'd put Morrigan and Alistair at about the same age range: 23 to 27.

Leliana would be slightly younger: 21 to 24.

Sten would defintely be in his mid 30's, although it might be his regimented lifestyle and emotional control that keeps him young looking.

Zevran seems to be in late 30's his Dalish stock probably keeps him looking that good.

Oghren is defintely in his late 30's to early 40's. He married a young Paragon for cripes sakes and drinks ALOT so he couldn't be in his 50's.

Wynne is defintely in her 60's, but damn if she ain't FINE. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Alistair don't know what he is missing.

Wrinkles mean nothing. It could be her expression, or her ethnicity, or her bardish lifestyle.



Forty is highly unlikely. Even less so if you see her in the Sacred Ashes trailer.

Hey excellent trailer, I hadn't seen it before. Thanks for the heads up.
Counterargument, the age of the actress in the trailer means nothing. Make up does marvels. And besides, what's wrong with 40? The 40's are the new 30's they say.
All I know is that those wrinkles of Leliana really turn me off...

You must be a real hit with the ladies, if you think a character like Leliana looks 40.

In the toolset it gives the character's age. I remember a few very vaguely;



Zevran: 22

Leliana: 26

Morrigan: 30

Anora: 32 or 30

The things listed in the toolset aren't always correct though, a lot of things were changed in the writing but not updated in the Character section of the toolset. It has Alistair at 32, which is pretty much impossible to the story, and the Cousland parents both at forty, which wouldn't make much sense with them having a son listed as 30, or having Bryce take part in the war 30 years ago.

For my impressions:

- I'd put Alistair around 21. It fits with The Calling if you believe the Fiona theory (which I do) and also fits with the fact he hadn't yet taken his vows as a Templar.

- The toolset pegs Morrigan at 30, and I'd say around there. I'd say no younger than 25, but it's hard to make an informed estimation since she was raised in the Wilds. 

- Leliana I don't see being much older than early thirties, though my first impression of her was a bit younger, at 24. Toolset has her at 26, though that isn't a reliable source.

- Zevran seems late-twenties to me. A lot of people view him as older, but when you consider that he was trained from a boy it isn't hard to believe he was an accomplished assassin by 27 or so. Then again, that's just my impression.

- Oghren's toolset age is 35, and I find that believable. My initial impression was at 40 or so, but 35 seems right to me too.

- Like Morrigan, Sten is hard to make an estimation for since we don't encounter many qunari in the game and don't know as much about them. I picture him around forty for his wisdom and appearance, but I'd believe anywhere from thirty to fifty.

- Wynne, I change my mind about quite often. When I first saw her, she looked about fifty to me. But with the whole Aneirin/having a son story, I'd estimate 60-70 now.

Fiona was an elven Grey Warden in the novel The Calling. She had an illegitimate child with king Maric. It has been speculated that the child was Alistair.

Leliana was born Fereldan but moved to Orlais with her mother who was a servant to a Noblewoman of Orlais after the occupation ended. The Occupation ended 30 years before gametime so I think that pegs her at about 30+ years. i can't imagine an ousted noblewoman staying in a liberated country any longer than necessary.

I would say that Morrigan is below 25 due to her tardish teenager temper...

I would say Leliana is early 30.

Zevra I would say early 40.

Allistair ~35.

Wynne early 50.

Sten no clue is not human he could be 100 for all I know.

Going from impressions and the text in game:

Alistair - Early 20s, maybe 21-23. He's still a virgin, hasn't taken his vows, and doesn't have much self confidence. He starts out naive with a sense of humor, and can grow a lot as his relationship with you progresses.



Lel - Early to mid 20s. 25-26 seems right. She's a believer and an activist, something of a rebel and thrill seeker, has had a lot of shallow sex and one serious failed relationship that we know of. She has to be old enough to have led a fairly adventurous life but still young enough that your relatively young PC (and all of the PC origins are young) can find her attractive, and she doesn't have the baggage a woman like Lel would gather.



Zev - Again, mid to late 20s. 26-27 at the very oldest, and I'd guess younger. He starts as a strutting nitwit / moral idiot ("Death happens, no one is innocent, justification posturing boast justification") who turns out to want a deep, real relationship in the end. He grows emotionally in his time with you. That's a youngish man, even if life has kicked him around quite a bit. He's not finished yet.



Mori - Still seems like early to mid 20s to me. I don't get the estimates that she's older at all. 23-24 maybe. She starts knowing nothing about real human relationships, and can grow emotionally in the time she's with you. She has actually seen very little in her life other than the wilds, so far as we know.



Wynne - 50s somewhere. Old enough to have had a child, young enough that she still gets sent into a war zone, old enough that her health starts to fail after a near death experience in battle.



Sten - Early 30s. A professional soldier, but soldiers start young. He was in charge of a small team sent on an important mission, but he's not ordering around large groups of troops (yet). Old enough for a serious, driven personality with a soft side, young enough to still be sent on long range dangerous missions with only a few men.

Alistair: I'd say 26. Spent the last 20 years in the church, I can see how he's still a virgin. but still around the age to be a confident fighter.



Morrigan: I'm voting around 24 here, she doesn't look old, and she acts like a teenager when she's annoyed or trash talking. So, I'd say 24.



Leliana: I'm thinking 28, she looks younger (apparently) which is why some people probably see her as 23-25. But she's lived a life of Lies, Sex, and Murder, and has experienced much of the world.



Sten: I'm voting on 40. He has the voice, and appearance of a seasoned and wise soldier, even with a side-bit of crankiness. Qunari can age entirely different though.



Zevran: I don't know if Elves age any differently then us, so for human ages, I'd say around 28 as well. He was raised as an Assassin, and has worked for the Crows for a long time, making him a fairly well known fighter, makes sense to me.



Wynne: I'm voting for 55. Making her, roughly 23-24 when she was teaching her apprentice. She can't be too old that she'll simply drop dead, and so I give her this age, and must say, she looks quite nice for 55.



Oghren: I'm thinking Mid-30's, 35 is quite possible.



Dog: 3 or 4.



Loghain: My vote is early 50's. He was involved in the war 30 years ago, and I'm assuming he was in his Twenties then, so probably 54-57.

I get the impression that all of the characters are a bit older based on their life experiences.

Alistair- Anywhere from 24 to 27 based on his appearance.

Morrigan- About 24-28, you won't find someone younger than 24 speaking as she does.

Leliana- Anywhere from 22-25, I've always had the impression she was a bit younger because of her naiviety.

Sten- About 28-35, I really don't think he's *that* old.

Zevran- I'd vouch anywhere from 23-35 based on his life experiences. He could be young (based on his looks) or even older (based on his experiences).

Wynne- 50-65, old enough to be wise yet have a body young enough that she can partake in battles (though I doubt its that easy for her). 

Oghren- 35-40, he has the mentality of a middle aged drunkard. 

Dog- Roughly 1-4 (in human years). 

Loghain- Anywhere from 45-55, he's DEFINITELY much older considering he has an adult daughter (Anora) and knows his way around many battles. 

Shayle- Possibly hundreds of years old based on the fact she's been frozen for so long.

I would say:

Alistair: 25. has been through some stuff, but is definitely one of the youngest companions I would say.
Leliana: Approaching 30, but not there yet. She's been through a lot, but I really don't think she's that  old.
Morrigan: who knows? judging by appearance and manners, also around 25.
Zevran: 30. old enough to be experience in life, yet it doesn't seem like he's that experienced. like, with how long          he's lived, if that makes sense.
Sten: 35 to 40. Experienced, and stubborn, the way older people can be
Oghren: 30 to 35. Same as Sten, yet a little younger me thinks.
Wynne: I think her canon age is actually 55.
Dog: The relevant and equivalent age of 5 human years in dog years.
Loghain: 45 to 50. I would say at the end of the Stolen Throne, he seems about 25, maybe 30.
Shale: ancient . Hundreds, at least.
