Pretty much the exact phrase given for game length was "ME2 length." Supposed to be 20-30 hours. This being the developer numbers which are almost always inflated, too, by the way.


It's a standalone expansion. ;)

I think DA II will be a good game, there is not a wheel per se, but the dialogue is similar to DAO and al., but shorter,  three lines or so, he said;  he (David Gaider) also said that the game is shorter than Origins but longer than Awakening; that our decisions from both stated game (DAO and DAO: Awakening)  impact DA II greatly. 

I think it is a good thing.  We will learn more tomorrow.  Let us hope it is more good news.  Morrigan and Flemeth both have major roles in DA II?!  That shocked me, really... Well not the Flemeth part, but Morrigan?  Now, I am really curious about her upcoming  DLC.  I wanted to opt out on it, but... hm.

(In DA she was: Allison, Ashalle, Desire Demon, Erlina, Marjoliane, Sultry elf female, sultry human female)

Did he say that her ME voice was also a minor role? The impression I got when he answered was that her role in DAO was so minor that he couldn't recall it very well, but when he answered about ME he was much more certain about it... which could mean her role in ME was much more memorable.

I was just thinking that because Kimberly Brooks might be another possibility - she did Ashley Williams in ME and was only Lanaya in DAO.

I kinda hope it's Kath Soucie, to be honest. I luv her. ^_^

I couldn't be more pleased with this part of the interview. Gaider also implied that they are already planning for different choices in Awakening to have differing repercussions in Thedas that may not even be felt until future games beyond DA2. It's exciting to see that the world is being planned out on this grand scale -- even if we don't see everything, the sense of that historical context as backdrop really deepens the storylines we can see.

When Bioware was writing games for the Forgotten Realms universe, I always said how weird it was that a setting built by committee out of generic, by-the-numbers elements should be treated in such an ambitious way, so that the cheap materials ended up achivieving an epic feel in spite of themselves -- a pasteboard colossus.

Now, to see the same team working on the same scale with a world that is their own in every detail is ... well, I'm excited, that's all.

I'm pretty sure all he said was that they're important to Thedas, not DA2.

No, I don't think he really confirmed that -- he just said she was important in the grander scheme of Thedas, and that some companions from Origins would return for Rise to Power either as cameos or longer roles.

I don't think that he said that they had a big role in DA2. Instead something like they have a big role in the story of Thedas. I took that to mean the overall story arc.
