I was just wondering if Heavy Singularity does more damage than Wide. Also, what enemy types does Heavy Sing. affect that Wide does not? I'm currently undecided on which one I like more. Thanks.

I think wide option is more effective because you can let them ragdolls for hours. then you just shoot them all. wide is targeting for multipul enemies. heavy one is only focus on one or two.

Heavy Singularity
  • Recharge Time: 4.50 seconds
  • Singularity Duration: 45.00 seconds
  • Impact Radius: 1.75 meters
  • Hold Duration: 9.00 seconds
  • Maximum Number of Targets: 6.00

Wide Singularity
  • Recharge Time: 4.50 seconds
  • Singularity Duration: 30.00 seconds
  • Impact Radius: 3.00 meters
  • Hold Duration: 7.00 seconds
  • Maximum Number of Targets: 4.00

Most people seem to go Heavy because it holds longer. Wide Singularity may be able to reach out a little further to grab more enemies, yet it max number of targets and duration for holding them is less than Heavy. As far as which does more of that slow damage to enemy defenses; I don't know.

the more enemies you have in a singularity, the faster it 'dies', which is actually counter productive for wide singularity, especially on heavier difficulties. you'll find that whilst you may be able to get 3 or 4 enemies in a wide singularity, it collapses quite quickly once that happens, and its not as easy to get a warp explosion.

generally speaking, the extra duration of heavy is going to be better than the extra area of effect. I haven't seen any noticeable differences in damage.

Heavy Sing does inflict more due to higher duration. Heavy tends to hold Harbingers and mid-sized enemies better. Wide does the small enemies better. Heavy also lasts slightly longer against large enemies.

Isn't there a maximum amount of damage that Singularity will inflict before it winks out as well? I believe because Heavy inflicts more damage, that is why it lasts longer and can hold more enemies. Advantage of Wide is that you don't have to worry so much about hitting choke points, it's going to capture enemies from a larger area.

Wide singularity can hit and grab enemies behind cover. It is harder to do that with heavy. Samara, Garrus, Thane or Miranda can all strip the defense of said enemy and the rest is a simple warp explosion.

It does to deal more damge for the same period of time that I know of. It will deal more damge overall by dint of lasting longer. And as mnay other sahv enoted for you, it holds longer too. On the balance, I find it a far superior choice, and use Pull Field for trying to snare multiple de-shielded enemies at once.

It's strange that Wide Singularity holds less enemies than Heavy, considering the larger area of effect. I don't know, It seems to defeat the purpose to me. Making Heavy do more damage and hold enemies for longer while Wide could hold more enemies and have a larger aoe seems like a better solution. Well, thanks. I'm off to retrain again.

Well, if the search function on these forums worked properly, I'd have no problem telling people to try using it. <_<
