So this time was the third time and the third time was the charm for me. It took me a while to finish it, I tend to explore every inch of every single thing about a game, I just don't want to miss anything so now I've finally beat the OC and I had a really good time. Yes there were some issues and yes the AI just made me shake my head at times but then again so did the AI in the original NWN, I can't remember how many times my stupid Cleric Henchmen would use Turn Undead when only 1 skeleton was on the screen and waste it so that when I was surrounded by a bajillion of them she wouldn't be able to cast it. Or how about Tommy Undergallows would try over and over to pick that Locked door that needed a key? Lol, anyway, with a few downloads and with me controlling my mages instead of letting them cast on their own everything worked out just fine for the most part. I do think that Atari probably rushed Obsidian, heck they rush everyone, I just wish Wizards of the Coast would win their lawsuit and maybe give Obsidian the D&D rights but even with being rushed I think they turned out a fine game. The story was great, voice acting was top notch, Music was incredible, gameplay was fun and NPC interaction was good, I didn't care much for the crafting and actually had more fun finding my armor rather than crafting everyone a +5 Chain Shirt with a +5 weapon with 2d6 vs evil and 1d6 fire damage Lol but to each their own. I guess what I'm saying is I had a blast and every game has it's flaws. I think that RPG's more so than other games because of the sheer amount of different elements of the game which must all come together unlike a shooter where you just have to shoot the badguys and watch a few cutscenes here and there, not that there's anything wrong with that.
I also liked the graphics alot, I know alot of people hated them and thought the people looked stiff and pastic but I thought they were just fine and even beautiful in some spots. I really liked the look of the armor for some reason, chain mail looked like chain and the armor looked more functional than most games which just gives you giant spikey armor that while it looks awesome couldn't really have ever worked in real life but then again it's a game and not real life so once again to each their own.
And now the ending......I actually liked it. I thought it was quite fitting for the story and won't go into details because I don't want to spoil it for anyone but I know alot of people didn't like it but I for one enjoyed it and thought it fit very well with the story.
Well that was my not so short post, sorry I got carried away. NWN2 OC was a fun, epic adventure and I would recommend it to anyone. I only crashed once using Vista 32 bit and didnt really encounter any other serious problems. Make sure you save alot, don't let the initial AI and controls scare you off, it does seem to get better or maybe you just get used to it (Hint - Make sure you download Tony K's A.I. and yes I know the game incorporates it but it doesn't use the full version so you should really download it to get the most out of the games A.I. It's a game chaging mod) and just have fun. Thank you Obsidian, I had a great time. Now I'm off to Mask Of the Betrayer and then SOZ so I still have lots of hours of entertainment ahead of me. Definitely money well spent.
