Wouldnt having AION style character customization slider solve all the boob, butt, muscular issue?? I wonder why BW is not doing that...
I don't even need it that detailed. Just a muscle tone slider would suffice for me. Is your character big, scrawny or normal? Set muscle tone. Done. Oh and height.
Would that be so complicated?

Just a guess, but they may think that overly emphasizing body customization and taking it to MMORPG proportions would be a risky move.ashwind wrote...

Yes, from a programmers standpoint I think it would. Consider how much work must go into making the faces customizable so they are consistent in every single cut scene and every bit of game play.

I like the look. The only problem is that it's likely to cause discontent amog those who like to play the more lithe rogues or mages. I like the idea of separate body models for the classes, but it may not be practical or plausible, given that there's always a limitation of resources.slimgrin wrote...

The only thing I can think of is that it could detract from time spent on other areas of the game.

Don't know anything about programming. Will take your word for it but I hope it's something they at least look into if they're going to give us crap models.

But DA:O already sort of dealt with different hights. You had dwarf, human, elf and qunari.

Those were races though. And each member of those races have the same body types pertaining to their gender. Making changes to the animations to accommodate Hawke's different heights is extra work that isn't needed. It's far easier just to use one body type across the board. That said, I like the idea of body models being exclusive to class, with the warrior being the most muscled and the mage being the least. Height just adds an extra element that I don't think is needed.

MMORPGs don't have strengths such as a good story, in-depth character development and connection with NPCs. Borrowing such elements as body customization might cause fear of BioWare stressing on its traditionally strong points less than usual on gamers' part.MariSkep wrote...

Maybe BioWare thought so, too. Hypothetically speaking.

If we're talking about skin, both of the images you quoted show too much.
Dragon Age was pretty good about keeping the amount of skin equal between the genders though. The only exception being Dalish armor, which I hope they fix in DA2.

I guess it is because she shows cleavage, which is unfounded in real life.
Oh wait...

BW can eliminate the hight customization part or greatly limit it. And coming from a programmer's standpoint, it is just a matter of applying transformation matrix to the model to make them smaller, bigger, wider etc.slimgrin wrote...

If AION can do it... there is really no reason why BW cant... really. Sides this is not a one time investment, BW is venturing into the MMO sector and such an engine is a worthwhile investment.... or are they holding this back on us so that they have something new to showcase in the future ... umm... marketing conspiracy...
