OK.

Let me get to the point than border trolling and posting lusty-busty images.

ALL populour media caters to tastes of its dominant audience. That happens to be sex-starved male right now.

The next portion is for males only. Forgive me ladies.

If you have a GF you don't really get enough time to play the game and endlessly troll on internet forums. She's all Warmth and sun and picnics (the nice one's atleast are).

Please accept another gesture of my disdain.

Why do people insist on pushing the fool idea all gamers are men and all games must therefore be made for men? It's stupid and flat out wrong in it's basic premise, that female gamers are an insignificant minority.

Yes but that's not the style that everyone went on to try and duplicate or honor. Games have a very wide variety of art teams and each one draws inspiration from somewhere else. In comics the artist always goes back to glamour body. Not true in video games.

I wish Bioware was more sensitive to these kinds of stuff. If over sexualization of women in media didn't exist then there would be no problem. It's the principle of the thing.

How can we claim games are art when we have stuff like this going around especially now when there is a VERY serious court case on in the SUPREME COURT of America about the debate of games as art and we don't have much evidence and Bioware certainly isn't helping.

The stakes are that if we lose the case then gaming will be considered equivaltent to drugs, alcohol and tobacco (No First Amendment rights).

How does breast size determine whether or not gaming (or anything for that matter) is art?

I actually went WAYY off topic but what I mean is that developers should focus more on story, gameplay or even visuals as opposed to find ways to titialte the male audience. FemHawke's model is obviously made fanservicey for the benefit of the male and kind of cheapens the game when some claim it to be the LOTR of gaming

The busty models have been made for the sake of it. It's like if all the women in LOTR were played by busty blondes.

I read a Dev post (I think it was Mike Laidlaw) accepting that their audience of dominance was indeed Male. I will try and find that post now. But I would be obliged if someone knows where it is.

And that your girlfriend or wife will never let you play games. I'm not even going to touch the sun and picnics part of that comment.

Dear Bioware,
Is it too much to ask that the female bodies don't look like they're drawn by Rob Liefeld?
Thanks.

That's the artist whose name I couldn't remember!

Thanks, yukidama.

The problem is that the male version of the bottom one has less skin exposed. This double standard is bad. Armor shouldn't magically show more skin for female PCs than it does for male PCs.

60% of your audience being male does not in any way mean the other 40% is unimportant.

40% of your profits is a huge percent.

Then the rogue is a moron due to having no physical protection at all to her vital organs, she'd be better off running naked.

I imagine that the proportion of gamers actually interested in a game like this is more heavily weighted towards males than 60%. That said, it would be unwise for Bioware to disregard female gamers, as they are still a significant part of the market in particular for their games.

I am genuinely sorry. But that's just my experience I guess. Just for clarifiation, I DID not say inhibition in being allowed to play the game. I said ENDLESSLY TROLLING on forums after the game "day and night" (the quoted part is an addition).

Boob sliders should solve the issue. And FFXIV online had a great way of handling this, although i still think sliders work the best to please everyone. What basically happens is theres 4 faces to choose from in FFXIV if you play female, each face has a different bust size, if you select the prettiest face, the bust size is smaller, you go for the not too pretty one, its larger.

I never said that any developer should screw female gamers becasue they were a minority. I simply suggested why the male oriented portion is DOminating in games.

I don't know, I think a lot of ladies are into RPGs. Unlike, say, FPS and RTS games that are definitely more male-dominated. I'd be interested to know the real breakdown though.

I thought FPS's were the (teen) male dominant market while RPG's were for the classy types and women who enjoy depth in their gaming. RTS's would also be easily targeted towards female gamers because the stereotype that they have an aversion to the UPCLOSE gore and violence

Boob sliders would solve the problem, yes, but the devs have already said this is not a possibility.

Character designers will rarely create female outfits based solely on practicality. The female figure invites embellishment, and that's not a bad thing.

Even Arnold is ashamed by that movie, the guy who did such things like this.

Stereotypically I would agree with that.  But once you get into majorities (no matter how small or large) the minority does tend to vanish, well in my own view anyway.
The problem is that sometimes a game genre can come out and turn stereotypical on it's head.
..
there was a point I was going to make starting from there but I forgot it.  Oh well. Nevermind.
