Because they are the easiest to appeal to and Bioware will be inclined to make more Fanservice due to the increase in sales. Something similar happened to Halo. Started off as a fantastic science fiction tale but ended up as a multiplayer ****** fest with a ****ty story because Bungie realized there was no point in single player anymore

The top is Bethany and the bottom is the warrior woman AvelineBethany is a mage so it doesn't matter but I feel that if she starts swinging a sword around her breasts will smack into her face. Compare Aveline who has modest boobage yet is still hot
Bethany doesn't seem that hot because when I look below the neck I think, "Damn woman! Do you use magic to keep them supported? Doesn't your back hurt?"

How do you know its fan service?
How do you know fan service increases sales?
Easy = cheap?
Hot = opinon for sure.
So from your post you can not imagine a woman can have big breasts and it bothers you?

why are people so fixated on this issue? the boobs are big, ha ha, okay, move along

there are plenty of dumb/funny looking things in games. People don't get all hung up on them like they do with this boob thing.

I love big breasts. Who doesn't? Also, game series like Dead Or Alive or anything from Team Ninja were built on Fanservice. Also because sex sells. When did I say easy = cheap? I meant that if people focus only on the tiltiation then it becomes cheap. Lowest common denominator means the average young man who just want violence and some boobs

Well you did say they are the EASIEST to appeal to as one of the reasons of being cheap.
It doesn't Bioware has stated many times they are *adding*//////// the story is still there.Which for many is the most important.

Unfortunatley breasts are aprt of categories that people love making an issue over.
Mainly women feeling they are ebing advertised as sex things.
Or prudes.
Or so I imagine.

It's easier to appeal to a college frat boy who just wants some violence and hot chicks as opposed to one of those artsy game aficionado's who won't accept anything below Limbo, Portal or say Plane-scape Torment or Deus Ex etc

Unless FemHawke constantly tries to seduce people or poses provocatively we are reletively safe.
We had a small amount of this between FemShep and Jacob

So are you saying a artsy game aficionanda(whatever that is) is better than a college frat boy?

One cheapens the game while the other does not?

I just do not see why.

In terms of intellectuality and maturity yes. But Mr. Artsy may kick puppies while Frat Boy is Jesus 2.0 in terms of personality.

It's probably been said before in this 34 page thread, but why are some women so fixated on complaining about the breast size of characters in video games? Men don't rant and rave about how ridiculously muscled male characters are.

The argument used that it isn't a proper representation of them is ridiculous. My body looks nothing like Hawke's body, and looked nothing like the various muscled Heman-like character models from DA:O and various other games. Yet it doesn't bother me even in the slightest. I'm not very tall, so should I complain endlessly if a game makes me play as a really tall guy?

I honestly don't get why women are so off-put by the breast issue of their character or other NPCs.

I do not see how this cheapens your gaming experience.

Or are you too good for a game that might try to appeal to a type a person you dislike?

I really do not get it.

I've mostly seen men raving recently about boobs now.

EDIT: You should read the thread, actually. Mostly men.
AND the muscled form of men logic gets thrown off by the fact that fighters do look fit, while fighting women should look fit aswell.

Granted, I do not care anymore.

Most Men aspire to have tough and ripped bodies without losing their good looks of course.
Women don't really aspire to have large airbags strapped to their chests. Maybe a thing of pride but only of their body shape can handle it without the obvious problems. Chicks like tough bodies too

If both Hawke's looked like professional atheletes/tennis players what have you then there would not be a problem. Also, most guys dislike the meathead Marcus Fenix look.

It has.
In many different threads in-fact.
Seems to not matter to them.

I think you'll find there is a quite distinct difference.

The exaggerated representation of men in these games is one indicative of empowerment. No matter how silly and juvenile the design may be.
The exaggerated representation of women in these games is one of blatant sexualisation.

I do not aspire to have a ripped body...
I aspire to not become obese ever in my life....thats about it...
Would I be fine with a ripped body? if I did not work sure.
Would women be fine with big breasts that did not cause any problems? sure they would.

Are you speaking both as a man and a woman?
The first and the last sentence are kind of odd.
